Uh-oh. Any "Firefly" fans here? Guess what news just broke

Rocket built by startup Firefly explodes off California coast

New York(CNN Business) A 100-foot-tall rocket burst into flames mid-air after launching from California Thursday evening, dashing the hopes of a Texas-based startup to put a rocket into Earth's orbit on its first-ever launch attempt.

The rocket, which launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base north of Los Angeles on Thursday, appeared to have a smooth liftoff as it soared out over the Pacific Ocean and approached supersonic speeds. But then, the rocket began to cartwheel, turning over itself, before US Space Force officials on the ground directed the company to destroy the rocket mid-air — called an emergency abort — so that it would not tumble uncontrolled back toward people or property. No one was harmed.

The photo in the article is not the Firefly rocket. It's the Astra rocket that also recently had problems.

Getting into space is not an easy thing to do.

The Pacific Ocean, in which all the debris fell, was harmed. Who knows what the effect of all those chemicals in salt water will be on the environment.

Then when I was up in Canada visiting my girlfriend (now wife) she talked me into watching it with her, as she was a big fan. We watched it in a single go, and then I turned to her and said, "Okay I'm hooked, let's go to Best Buy and get season two!" Then she told me what happened to the series. That was a very sad day.

But we immediately went to Best Buy and bought Serenity, so there's that, at least. But some wounds never truly heal...

My wife loves it. I thought it was really just getting its legs when Fox cancelled it. Great characters that could have gone all sorts of ways I terms of storylines.
