"SNIP......
A Wall Street Journal editorial called the new Texas abortion law a major blunder:
Most laws delegate enforcement to public officials. This one delegates exclusive enforcement to private citizens, who are authorized to sue anyone who aids or abets an abortion after six weeks. Citizens who prevail in their civil lawsuits are entitled to at least $10,000 per abortion along with legal costs.
The law sets an awful precedent that conservatives should hate. Could California allow private citizens to sue individuals for hate speech? Or New York deputize private lawsuits against gun owners?

(11,730 posts)No. That's it. That will be their argument.
That's different.
They don't care. They probably don't even care if the law gets repealed or invalidated by another court.
This was done solely as a way to rouse their base.
Republican policies are stupid and harmful to everyone except the wealthy. They need a constantly riled up base to promote turnout in elections. They need all of their votes, and to stifle ours. If the law is repealed, it has the chance of riling up conservatives and making liberals relax because "we beat them back".
Republicans are not very smart, but they are VERY VERY devious, and have no shame.

(7,212 posts)Hysterics. Nice.
Those hysterics are plenty real to THOUSANDS of very real people.
Maybe the WSJ should go back to writing about the lucky Duckies?
