There's a star in the making playing right now - his name is Carlos Alcaraz Garfia - he is 18 and a few months (from Spain).
I hope he wins this math although he's playing against Tsitsipas ranked at #3. The kid is leading 2-1. Even if he doesn't win this match I've seen enough to say this kid will win slams. He is fearless and he sure can play.

(29,660 posts)I like Andy - not a racist bone in his body and definitely shows respect for women.
I wanted Andy to beat him,
but unless he used that ell phone he didn't violate any rules
Truthfully I was more concerned about the rumors about his cell phone and texting his father than the bathroom brake because the USTA has no time rules on bathroom breaks.
Carlos Alcaraz is a right handed Nadal - barring injury this kid is going to be great.

(7,367 posts)Stalling time, illegal coaching, bathroom and medical time-outs, they bent the rules for years and the officials did nothing. Pro tennis is a joke.

Comfortably_Numb
(3,807 posts)posted about not liking him. Closest thing I can find is root against him. I dont respect him because I think he juiced. So his greatness doesnt impress me.
malaise
(268,997 posts)I don't know if he's juiced because players are tested. I need evidence to draw a conclusion.

(3,807 posts)went from a good player to a brute in about a year. He said all he did was cut out gluten. I submit to you that if that dude had a legit system to bulk up like that without chems, he could box, bottle, and sell that plan to every athlete. But alas, you are right. I speculate and accept the evidentiary weakness in my speculation.

(268,997 posts)I stole Slobfather from DUer Thucythucy. And yes it really looked and looks odd, but all we can do without evidence is speculate.
Comfortably_Numb
(3,807 posts)So you and Thucy deserve a joint victory lap.

(14,811 posts)That he set him up for perfectly, I thought he'd blown his chance.
I couldn't be more pleased (unless the Joker loses too)

(4,170 posts)Serena and Venus had strong, no nonsense parents. They raised strong women. Same with Chrissie. Martina was just plain strong, as was Billie Jean.
Osaka reminds me of Capriati, though I never liked Capriati. Hopefully, Naomi will find her niche in the world.
