But they're based in Texas. So nope, if there's another choice of where to eat, I'll pick that.
AT&T? Already switched my phone coverage away from them.
Whole Foods? Sorry, not shopping there anymore until they leave Texas or Texas stops abusing women.
Bypass the Shell station, gas up at Alon or Chevron. If Shell can get Texas to stop abusing women I might go back to gassing up there. It's more convenient. Ditto Phillips 66, Valero and Exxon Mobil.
Need a new monitor, but it won't be a Dell. Not until they leave Texas, or Texas stops abusing women.
No flights on American Airlines or Southwest, route around them. Unless Texas stops abusing women.
This loyal Kleenex buyer is going to pick up a big pack of Puffs at Target and keep buying those until Kimberly-Clark leaves Texas, or Texas stops abusing women.
::sniffle:: No more Blue Bell Pecan Praline.... until Texas stops abusing women.
No more Frito-Lay snacks. Dang. Although it'll probably be good for me. I'll pick up some Old Dutch in Minnesota...
Never did eat at Whattaburger, Chili's, Maggiano's, Fuddruckers or Bennigan's much, but... same deal with Pizza Hut. Drive on, find another choice.
Mail order craft supplies, Michaels is off limits.
No Dr. Pepper, no Snapple, nor any of their works.
Oil changes at Quick Stop, not Jiffy Lube.
Until Texas stops abusing women.
Why should I contribute anything to businesses headquartered there? On the contrary, I hope all their female employees quit and leave the state.
We can use your skills next door, sisters.
New goal: Not a dime of mine (within my choice/control) ends up in Texas.

Many Pizza Huts - and examples of most of the others are your list - are locally owned and operated. Sure, there's some corporate involvement, but not going to Pizza Hut in Minnesota is going to do little to impact Texas and much to impact the local economy.
That's the problem with blanket bans. Much gets lost in context.

And my self-respect.
I'm not writing any letters or doing any picketing or whatever.
Just... not putting any of the money I can control where it will enrich the Texas economy.
For ME.

(4,726 posts)AT&T is a Tier 1 "backbone" service; if you connect to any website that's not also getting their service from your own ISP, there's very good odds you're using AT&T's network.

Where we lived the two near us had the best salad bars anywhere else.
I jones for those salad bars.
In small towns we know the owners and the employees like neighbors.
Boycotts would never work for us.

(111,322 posts)However, I was a driver at Mr. Gatti's when I was a college student. I also agree that their pizza is too salty, but I believe that is because they use mozzarella instead of provolone.

(112,440 posts)it turned out to be a blip. With the exception of that small blip in time, I have been boycotting, as much as I can, everything Texan since they refused to ratify the ERA. Like you, mine is a quiet and personal choice. It is one with which I can live.

I may, however go in, and speak to a manager to let him or her know why I'm no longer a customer.

(54,058 posts)They have a place in Brussels near where I work when I'm there. Sometimes, nearly 30 years ago, I used to take my daughters with my when I went there for the day. We'd eat at the Pizza Hut because they had heard about it, and thought it was "cool." Maybe there was one in Berlin or down in Frankfurt or München, but I wouldn't know, and anyway, Brussels is closer to our part of Germany. I haven't been back.
Most of those other companies don't make things that are essential parts of our lives here in Germany, so I get to fill in N/A. But the outfit I work for is indeed in Dallas. We have a few offices around the USA, Europe and Asia, but we are Dallas based, no two ways about it. We are not exactly typical, as we are only 500 people or so. The guys who run it are the same guys who founded it, and I have known them both since the early 1970s. When times are lean, the top guys go on $1 salary per year until things improve, so we don't have to fire anyone. When one guy got "religious," and started to try to convert people in the office, he was fired, but kept on the books at minimum wage, so he could have continuous health insurance until he found a new job. His past service was not forgotten. When we opened in Hong Kong, we rotated Dallas staff when we had meetings there, so that a maximum of the low wage staff could get a free trip to Hong Kong that they would never be able to afford on their own, and gave them extra time to explore the place at our expense.
We are very specialized (please don't ask), and it is unlikely that the average man/woman on the street would need us, but we do work with people nationwide and worldwide. Half our department heads are women, and the branch offices I know of in the USA outside Dallas are ALL headed by women. I doubt any of them would appreciate being snubbed because the head office is in Texas, or, for most of the ones in Dallas, because they were born there.
I know that most of my colleagues here in Europe despise the Texas Republicans and their politics as much as anyone on this board, including me, but they wouldn't dream of cutting off contacts with us, socially or professionally, because of that. Contributions I make to people like Wendy Davis, Beto O'Rourke and the Texas Democrats come from after-tax money I have because I work for that Texas outfit.
Like most everything else in life, "it ain't that simple."

Hole Foods stuff is way overpriced. Even the small independent natural foods store in our area is far less expensive than Hole Foods. Same with Natural Grocers and Trader Joe's.
Thanks for the other companies you mentioned that are based in Texas. Except for Frito Lay and the airlines, I didn't use their products anyway, but now I'll make it a point not to.
