So, if the redistricting map released tonight holds, looks like I may be running for re-election against . . . Lauren Boebert.

(52,130 posts)she is way far upstate. We are better off making her one of about 2 in NY.

(3,213 posts)I think they have the ability to eliminate 5 Republicans. They need to if we have any chance of holding the House.

(19,406 posts)I think the new 8th District will include a bit of District 2, that Neguse now represents, but District 2 will remain, so why would he be running against Boebert? He can't be living in her district.

(52,130 posts)better link that has whole map

The map will be CD 2
From what I can see she lives in far western CO so the district south of her is another GOP district. He lives in Boulder. While he seems happy with this, I would be pissed off. He went from a fairly small, compact, I would imagine very liberal district to a humungous less liberal one. But beating her would make him a famous hero so there is that.
The link above is his current district.
I didn't realize that had done that to the second district. Damn.

(3,213 posts)I believe Neguse and Boebert would be competing in the green district.

(24,560 posts)District 1: A safe Democratic seat, -56%
District 2: A safe Democratic seat, -22.4%
District 3: A competitive seat with a slight edge for Republicans, 5.5%
District 4: A safe Republican seat, 15.6%
District 5: A safe Republican seat, 20.3%
District 6: A safe Democratic seat, -15.6%
District 7: A competitive seat with a slight edge for Democrats, -5.2%
District 8: A competitive seat, -1.5%
The district in question is district 2. They use an independent commission there apparently. This map would be 3 safe D, 1 probable D, one very slight edge D, 1 probable R and 2 safe R. current is 4D, 3R
Unfortunately, Boebert only needs to move one county south to stay in District 3..
I say this because congressional reps do this all the time..

(24,560 posts)I have no idea if Colorado has residency laws for congressional reps.
Texas does not
