10,500 people a week are dying from Covid.

We are now seeing 1,500 deaths a day. That is 10,500 deaths a week. That is over 40,000 deaths a month. Why are there people behaving as if this pandemic is behind us?

Republicans and the republican governors they elected are agents of death.

The anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers are engaging in madness.

I just can’t understand it.

I wouldn’t care but they’re taking down a lot of innocent people with them. This pandemic will continue to rage because of a profound ignorance and selfishness in our society.

made a failed Manhattan huckster the champion of the everyman, i can't understand why they would rather eat ivermectin than take a vaccine, and i will never understand why they'd rather die than let science be right. None of it is based in logic, reason or fact. I just wish they weren't dragging the rest of us down with them.

Great post. How a pandemic became a political theater thing is beyond me.
Driving the backroads North of Chinook last Fall I would see all the ranchers flying the cheap Trump flag, most ripped to tatters by the prairie winds. And would think: what do these folks have in common with Trump? A frickin’ New Yorker? They hate anyone not from their county fer craps sake!

They have way more in common with Tester. I was in his hometown last night Big Sandy. One on one with those folks my neighbors they are decent and friendly.

I had to stop going to the Mint there, complete strangers would buy a round for the bar. Made it unsafe to drive home.

Red states are in a race to the bottom, and falsifying death records is hardly an unthinkable strategy for them.

a college football game last night. Thousands of screaming fans packed together for 3 hours. The announcers kept saying how "nice" it was to have screaming fans back in stadiums again. My church still does not mandate masks like it once did and I only saw 5 people with masks on. Even churches aren't pro life I guess.

My sister was telling me yesterday about our state college's first football game, which she was watching on TV. The stadium has over 102,000 seats. Those seats are filled every time there is a game. She said the cameras usually show lots of people sitting in their seats throughout the games, but strangely no persons were shown at all during this particular game. She said she thinks it's because no one was wearing a mask. We live in a very red state, so I bet very few people were actually wearing a mask. That would be consistent with what we are seeing at stores in our area. Very few people are wearing masks.

My sister asked, "Can you imagine how much COVID got spread during that game because of people yelling for their teams? "

I can't understand what is so difficult about wearing a mask. It is insane.

In some areas only 10 or 15 or 20% of the people are vaccinated. These areas including the United States are all nice petrie dishes perfectly designed to create new variations. The rest of our lives may very well be spent dealing with this crap.

I know that sounds dooms day like and it shouldn't be kind of depressing but that's just the way it is.

Refusing to accept the reality of the virus, vociferously fighting mask and social distance usage, ingestion of equine and bovine medication are not the hallmarks of a rational being. Stupidity is another method of slow suicide. When asked for examples of infinity, Einstein mentioned the universe and human stupidity, but said that he was not exactly sure about the universe.

Yeah, by me as well.

Whole Foods seems to have shoppers who are from the 'pro-mask" crowd. Costco, not so much, about 50/50. Don't shop at Walmart, but would think there are not too many masks over there.

It was always strange when Repugs who loved to hunt and fish would deny climate change, which would destroy their hobbies....and harm their kid's and grandkid's futures. But at least that one was a long term deal.

This one? They literally pretend Covid is not a real thing right up until they die from it.

I do not feel 'owned' for some reason.
