Rep. Ro Khanna sticking up for "genuine homeopathic products"...

Rep. Ro Khanna
@RepRoKhanna
I sent a letter to the FDA today signed by 24 of my colleagues regarding the new guidelines on homeopathic products. More clarity is needed on how the FDA plans to ensure that genuine homeopathic products remain accessible while protecting consumers from unsafe products.

What the actual fuck are "genuine homeopathic products"?

it more than, as you say "shit and sugar." To do the former is very dishonest, but more than a few state legislatures have been bamboozled by those doing so and thus given the entire issue wide berth.

Together with our sponsor, a California Congressman named Ro Khanna, a letter was drafted and circulated among members of Congress so that it could be sent to the FDA. Thanks to the dedicated work of the HAT team as well as those of you who wrote to Congress during our recent campaign, these 25 signers were bipartisan with 12 Democrats and 13 Republicans.

Homeopathy is pure woo with no basis in science. If he's referring to naturopathic or herbal-based products, that's a different matter; those should be regulated because some can be dangerous in high dosages.

11. Genuine homeopathic products....

These are generally very dilute solutions of substances that homeopathic practitioners have long used to treat diseases with similar symptoms as the effect of the symptoms. Generally not found to have efficacy (therefore none are FDA approved), but also not harmful. Presumably non genuine products are all the other things sold using "homeopathic" (sounds like home as in home remedies, right?) as a synonym for all the things lumped in under "alternative medicine", including herbs, drugs sold as food supplements, folk and nonwestern remedies and the Qanon flavor of the month (currently veterinary dewormer, and its FDA approved human analogue, approved for worms.)

I agree, I'm not a fan of homeopathy, I don't think it works based on scientific data, as a doctor it sure looks fun to prescribe though, but (unless used to avoid substantive and necessary treatment) it doesn't hold a level of harm that the FDA needs to get involved in, like they do with veterinary ivermectin and occasionally with toxic herbs and the like.
