I've shopped in both stores. Whole Foods does not have some of the products I regularly use, though.
Is Whole Foods a less corporate store? Actually, no. It is owned by Amazon, Inc. So, it is part of a much larger corporation than Cub Foods, which has all of the products I need, including organic products, if I choose.
I could go to the weekly farmer's market here, but it offers even fewer items that are on my shopping list. Even it, though, is a capitalistic operation to some degree.
Why am I posting this? Because we live in a capitalistic society. Capitalism is the economic system we all participate in. We cannot buy the goods we want and need without participating in capitalism, frankly. Whole Foods is no more or less Earth-friendly than the Cub Supermarket. One could argue that its ownership by Amazon means I'm supporting one of the largest corporations on the planet.
Nothing is simple. I will drive to either one in my automobile. Today, that will be my Chevy Trax. It needs refueling, so I'll make a stop at a BP gas station near my home on my way back. Two more capitalistic ties. I'm typing this post on a Dell desktop computer, which is connected to the internet via Comcast/Xfinity. More capitalistic links.
I can do nothing, really, that is not supported by capitalism. What I eat, how I go, and even my communications are all capitalism-based.
Bottom line is that we are all inextricably tied to the capitalistic economic system. It is impossible for any of us to separate ourselves from it. There is no viable alternative. So, we are all part of the process that supplies our overpopulated planet with the goods and services we all demand and must have and use.
Nothing is simple.
