Former FBI agent who worked on still-secret FBI 9/11 case says hijackers had U.S.-based support network
BY CATHERINE HERRIDGE, ANDRES TRIAY

President Biden signed an executive order Friday directing the Department of Justice to oversee a declassification review of some documents related to the 9/11 attacks, amid pressure from families of victims who are demanding to know if Saudi Arabia helped the hijackers. The order requires the attorney general to release any declassified documents in the next six months.

Some records pertain to a still-secret investigation, code named "Operation Encore," which centered on the two hijackers that lived in San Diego and who may have assisted them. While it could take months for the documents to be released, Danny Gonzalez, a former FBI agent who worked on the operation, told CBS News that he's confident two of the hijackers had a U.S.-based support network.

"19 hijackers cannot commit 3,000 mass murders by themselves," Gonzalez said in his first television interview about the investigation.

In response to the president's decision to declassify some of the documents, the FBI said in a statement that it will "continue to work in coordination with the Department of Justice and other agencies to declassify and release documents related to the 9/11 investigation."

"Two dozen members of Osama bin Laden's family were urgently evacuated from the United States in the first days following the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, according to the Saudi ambassador to Washington.

One of bin Laden's brothers frantically called the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Washington looking for protection, Prince Bandar bin Sultan told The New York Times. The brother was sent to a room in the Watergate Hotel and was told not to open the door.

Most of bin Laden's relatives were attending high school and college. The young members of the bin Laden family were driven or flown under FBI supervision to a secret place in Texas and then to Washington, The Times reported Sunday."....(more)

to leave the country. At the time, this was seen as a favor from Bush because of his relationship
to Saudis, including to this family. Correct if my recollection wrong.

They are a family criminal enterprise. The US should withdraw support for them and the royal family, thats the only way thing can change in that country.

FBI, in reversal, now says it has closed Operation Encore, opening path to release more records about Saudi involvement in 9/11

By Dan Christensen, FloridaBulldog.org

After insisting for months that it could not release information about its once secret probe of Saudi government involvement in 9/11 because it was open and active, the FBI told a federal judge Monday that it has now closed the investigation.

The surprise decision follows intense political pressure on the Biden Administration to open up classified government records by thousands of family members and survivors of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington who are now suing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“We now wish to inform the Court and the parties that the FBI has recently closed the Subfile investigation,” wrote Manhattan Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarah Normand and Jeannette Vargas in an Aug. 9 letter, using FBI terminology for the Operation Encore probe that was within its initial PENTTBOM investigation of the 9/11 attacks. “The FBI has decided to review its prior privilege assertions to identify additional information appropriate for disclosure. The FBI will disclose such information on a rolling basis as expeditiously as possible.”

The FBI’s decision means new documents about what its agents uncovered during Operation Encore could soon begin to flow to the plaintiffs’ lawyers.
