Teen sentenced to 20 years for death of 7-year-old who didn't know Bible verses

A Wisconsin teen was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2018 death of his 7-year-old relative, Ethan Hauschultz, who prosecutors say was beaten and tortured for not knowing Bible verses. Damian Hauschultz, now 17, pleaded guilty in June to one count of first-degree reckless homicide, court records show.
Hauschultz's father told him to punish the child because the child did not know 13 Bible verses.

Ethan was forced to carry a log around a path for two hours a day for one week while Damian Hauschultz watched. Ethan "struggled to carry his log" and Damian Hauschultz hit, kicked, struck and poked him approximately 100 times, the criminal complaint states.

It goes on to say that Damian Hauschultz stood on Ethan's "body and head" while the boy was "face-down in a puddle." Damian Hauschultz also buried the child in about "80 pounds of packed snow" and left him for about 20 to 30 minutes without a coat or boots, the complaint says. Ethan died of hypothermia but had other extensive injuries, according to the complaint.

Damian Hauschultz's father, Timothy Hauschultz, goes on trial in December on eight charges including felony murder while Damian's mother, Tina McKeever-Hauschultz, was sentenced to five years after pleading guilty for failure to prevent great bodily harm and failing to prevent mental harm to a child.

I guess people who thump bibles seem to get their jollies thumping people as well, preferably ones too weak to defend themselves (they apparently aren't courageous enough to try to thump people who are strong enough to thump back).

Humans are the worse of all animals. We have been torturing people and committing genocide for thousands of years. What makes you think we will ever stop? According to the Bible, 25% of the first people committed murder by killing their brother. If I was God, I would have started over and rested on the sixth day.

That poor, sweet, innocent little boy. His young life was ended by these evil, hateful "Christians" who wouldn't know what the love of god was if it bit them on the ass.

They should all spend the rest of their lives in prison. They are irredeemable. Nobody with a soul or an ounce of compassion could have participated in such an awful crime.

What I don't understand is why so many "Christians" are so hateful and so filled with bloodlust. It's just seems to be more of a mental illness than a religion to me.

14 years of torture himself.

If he was 14 when he committed the crime, I’m sure the 7 year old wasn’t the only child being abused in that family.

Often accompanied, from 1486 onward (if one happened to have the misfortune of being labelled a witch, warlock, demon, fae, or some other 'ungodly' creature), by the ranting quotes spewed forth from that insidious book, the Malleus Maleficarum, aka Der Hexenhammer aka The Hammer of the Witches.

I can hear every xtian of every stripe saying these people misinterpret scripture or they weren't "real" Christians.

Even if that were true, it was xtianity that gave these people the excuse. There are plenty of bible verses that encourage child torture and murder. There are plenty of modern xtians that take those verses seriously.

They think doing garbage in this world is okay if it makes things better in the afterlife, which of course doesn't exist.

I haven't had this kind of horrific thing happen to me, of course, but I have been acquainted with many many Christians who said they would do one thing and then did another, because God.

Just a few years back, the Legislature there passed a law (that was signed) that said if a child dies as a result of the parent(s) religious observance, the parents are not liable. Beatings, starving, dehydration, that sort of thing.

That law has not yet been repealed and it's not the only state with such a law on the books.

The husband is not 17 year old's biological father.
The little boy was placed there as a foster child, being a distant relative of the husband.
