GOP backed Sharia law. They hate it and will twist themselves into a knot trying to make the new Texas law sound like not a religious backed thing. Oh,it's been fun to watch!
Things I find and do to stay entertained these days.

Gammon is a pejorative popularised in British political culture since around 2012. The term refers in particular to the colour of a person's flushed face when expressing their strong opinions, as compared to the type of pork of the same name. It is defined in this context by the Oxford English Dictionary as "various parasynthetic adjectives referring to particularly reddish or florid complexions". In 2018, it became particularly known as a term to describe either those on the political right or those who supported Brexit.

(13,538 posts)term tying it to Sharia law. Too bad Sharia law isn't something that rhymes with Texas. I didn't come up with anything yet.

(22,307 posts)use Islamic terms to describe the 100% white-supermacist Christian fuckery going on. Doing so is bigoted and obscures the real issue.

(35,619 posts)To use a term that enrages them or compares them to something the Texiban loathes. It is not, therefore, bigotry. It is using the offenders prejudices against them.
Turning it right back at them.

(22,307 posts)possibly come up with oppressive policies, so we have to use terms from other cultures, when in fact oppression of the marginalized is the legacy of this nation. If your goal is to piss people off, try it -- it makes them angrier than being called inaccurate names, because it's the truth.

(35,619 posts)Your explanation rests on a supposition that cant possibly be proven. It cannot be proven because you are assuming you know whats in another persons mind. You do not know that nor should you assume you do. See attribution theory for that explanation.
What I am referring to is targeted communication. One adjusts ones message to the audience. I do not, for example, go into a class of fourth graders and use polysyllabic words. In this case, and my comment was confined to this case only, she used a term specific to the argument. It means something to that person because it is within the frame of reference of the topic.
This seems to be another point of confusion for you. You have conflated the use of such a term in one situation with the larger argument. You jump to the conclusion that everyone is doing this and then, of course, you pass your moral judgment that this is wrong. This, IMO, is what makes the left come off as sanctimonious. It does nothing to advance our cause, and as such, hinders it.

(5,332 posts)Texas is inventing it's own Hell-on-Earth for it's inhabitants.
Put the blame squarely where it belongs.
Now, I'm going back to designing the only solution to Texan studs who feel sex should be free and easy and without responsibility and consequences, and young impressionable Texan females who make it all just too easy . . . CHASTITY BELTS!
And why not? If Texas is going back to the Middle Ages, a time period appropriate solution is called for.

Point out the simulations it has to something that hate is the only way to get them to think about it.
