This is a never-ending story of madness.
The hospital, New Jerseys only public acute-care facility, became the first in the state to mandate vaccination among all its employees, who faced termination if they refused. The requirement announced in June allowed for exemptions based on medical or religious reasons.

But many states maintain their own records (submitted by healthcare providers with patient permission) that can be queried

(32,778 posts)And your surmise is correct. All of the major religions (excluding Buddhism due to the fact it doesn't have a central authority. there are various groups within the religion who actively endorse vaccinations) actually encourage vaccination. Because, as a servant of God, it's your obligation to protect your health to continue to serve.
Islam actually codified a dedication to vaccination after convening a conference on the matter in 2018,
So, yeah, Christian Scientists are probably the only religion that has a long history of rejecting medical science. At least they're consistent in that when they invariably get COVID, they don't go running to the nearest ER and clog up the ICUs.

(8,864 posts)If you've been vaccinated, you might be able to get a DIGITAL vaccine card,
a QR Code plus your ID, makes it nearly impossible to forge.
If you want to check digital vaccine cards QR Codes, for people that visit your home or
if you own a business and want to verify a digital card QR Code, you have to download a
phone app that can scan medical QR Code. Normal QR Code scanners will NOT work.
You'll need a medical QR Code scanner like "SMART Health Card Verifier" or similar.
To get your digital vaccine card QR Code, here are some locations for some states & D.C.
California

You'll need to create a 4 digit pin, so that nobody else can access your record.

(54,055 posts)Though this was back in May.
However, here in Germany, they verified our Texas/WHO info within ten minutes and gave us our EU docs with bar codes, with which we can travel within the EU, although some countries (notably France) require the vaxx pass AND a recent negative PCR test to enter. I was just there last Wednesday, and they demanded both of every single passenger on the train.

(54,055 posts)I think the US and the EU are stumbling in the same direction, learning from each others mistakes.
The reason we flew to America to get vaccinated is because Germany told us in April that we were looking at late August to get our shotsif that! My outfit in Dallas said three days advance notice max, so off we flew, and their word was good. But now, Germany has caught up and maybe even surpassed the USA in percentage of population vaxxed, and hands out vax documents with bar codes readable EU wide. We can be sure the NIH and CDC are watching and learning, too.

(32,778 posts)Having both a current vaxx record and a recent test. Much more than the lip service given in the US. Umm... If it's not too much trouble could you please wear a mask sometimes. No, no... I don't need to see any proof. I'll take your word for it. Now run along and do whatever you were going to do anyway.

The US is going to be the COVID reservoir for all eternity.

(32,778 posts)Tangential to the thread topic, I learned this week that every single person in my much reduced COVID regular personal interaction sphere has either been infected or exposed to Delta.
Anecdotal, I know. In observing these people over more than the last year and a half, I've always deemed their behavior 'adequate'. Which was confirmed by the fact they all made it through last Fall without incident. Delta got them anyway. All of them.
I only know their consistent practice of wearing masks, testing, distancing, and hygiene. I don't know the vaccination status of most of them. Although, I know their employers strongly encouraged it and provided every opportunity to take advantage of a vaccination.
I find this shocking.

(54,055 posts)I don't know the physical circumstances, of course, but I am in "tight" situations all the time. Trains, planes, small towns, small offices. I always mask, have been vaccinated, try to make sure I am among those who have been vaccinated as well. But there are never any ironclad guarantees that being sensible offers 100% protection. There are about six countries I frequent every month in the line of work, and not all of them have the best records. All have high immigrant quotas, but the anti-vax/anti-mask hysteria is catching on here as well. Not to the extent one sees in parts of North America, but ANY such group presents a danger to the rest of any population in which they reside, and Europe is VERY densely populated.
