Taliban disappointed equipment left behind by U.S. forces is unusable
The Taliban is unhappy with their parting gifts.
The mood reportedly turned from celebratory to sullen for Taliban fighters when they discovered equipment left behind by U.S. forces that left Afghanistan after 20 years of war had been inoperable and beyond repair, according to a report from Al Jazeera.
The Taliban were disappointed to find inoperable planes and helicopters left behind by American forces on the military side of the Kabul airport.

Last night their mood was one of joy, celebration, they were shooting in the sky, there were fireworks, Al Jazeera reported Wednesday. The mood here today is quite different.
According to the Middle Eastern news network, the Taliban took their reporters to the Kabul airport used by U.S. troops to show them wreckage where militants had hoped to find a treasure trove of war machines.
They are disappointed, they are angry, they say they feel betrayed because all of this equipment is broken beyond repair, the report said.

(32,061 posts)Their sheep viewers will never no this happened, because they're not going to say anything about it to them. They'll just keep doing what they have been doing: Lying and distorting. I'm sure they're now claiming that we left over $100 billion worth of equipment, even though the actual $82 billion figure was over the entire 20 years, and that 2/3 of that figure was for training, and not the equipment.

Sailors would abandon ship and pull the plug. Pilots would crash land behind enemy lines and toss a match.

(5,215 posts)No support staff to service equipment. Or parts. Or trained operators.
But the Americans did leave behind a lot of guns, something like a million of them.
The Taliban can now run around flashing the latest in US firepower. And play dress-up in US military gear.
/sarcasm alert.
That should help running the country, you know, infrastructure - water, food, electricity - productivity and GDP, medical services for people, stuff like that.
I'm sure that during the last 20 years, most Taliban would have spent a lot of time pondering what to do once the invaders left, and they got to run the place. I bet they have detailed plans!
/end sarcasm

(4,967 posts)for those guns?
I would hazard a guess that the troops blew up the remaining ammo....
There are obscene amts of 7.62, 5.56 and 40mm ammo all over that country.
None was destroyed since it was the ANAs.

(54,056 posts)The worst insult was that those locked trunks marked Commanding Officers Eyes Only did NOT, as expected, contain $5 billion in genuine $100 bills, but back issues of Archie comics. I hear the Taliban have vowed cruel revenge.
