I Suggest You Avoid France - Vaccination Rate 61% 60% Mask Use

Far better than USA, but horrible compared to Portugal.

Lots of people cover their mouths, but not their nose where Delta is.

Their hospitals will be as full as ours soon.

1. Really? Today on Tous Anti Covid - vaccination rate is 77,8% including DomTom - overseas
Sun Sep 5, 2021, 04:29 AM
Sep 2021

So that 77,8% rate is brought down by low vaccination rates in Guyane, Reunion, Guadalope, Martinique, and Mayotte.

Masks are compulsory on public transport, in stores, in public buildings.
The Pass Sanitare - vaccination record, or record of a Covid test in the past 72 hours are required.
Yes, there were the 'Liberté Mourir' demos yesterday, but the numbers of people showing up are dropping weekly.

Don't know where you get your numbers, but nope. Wrong.

2. Is that of everyone, or of adults?

I don't think the overseas departments have enough population to change the figure that much, but whether you include children or not would. The 61% figure is for the total population, and is, for instance, about the same as Germany, a little below UK, Canada is better, Portugal is higher still, and USA below France: https://ourworldindata.org/explorers/coronavirus-data-explorer?zoomToSelection=true&time=2020-03-01..latest&facet=none&pickerSort=desc&pickerMetric=new_cases_per_million&Metric=People+fully+vaccinated&Interval=7-day+rolling+average&Relative+to+Population=true&Align+outbreaks=false&country=USA~GBR~CAN~DEU~FRA~PRT

This has 75.2% for fully vaccinated adults in France: https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/covid-19/vaccine-roll-out-overview

10. Tous Anti Covid app is from the French government. It shows official numbers & is a contact tracer

It also holds your vaccination record.

From the app Vaccination Coverage screen today:

Data from: September 2
FRANCE
77,8%
Vaccination coverage
This figure gives the share of the
population over the age of 12 that
are fully vaccinated (all required
doses).

Unfortunately that requires taking a plane and going thru customs - no thank you. I still hope to get to go to south France at some time, but it wont be anytime soon I think. I adored Paris and Strausbourg and the Alsatian part of France and would love to see the lavender fields of So France!

3. I won't have the chance to avoid France or go there, either.

Their vaccination rate is better than the U.S., anyway, so I wouldn't feel like I was in anymore danger over there than I am over here.

And hubby was afraid we’d be stopped at the border. Maybe it’s time for a shopping trip over.

5. Well, that's one suggestion I haven't followed, and won't be following

I have to run down to France about once a week for work that can't be done remotely. I got back here to Europe on the 27th, and was just in Paris last Wednesday. At the border--in this case the Gare Du Nord, as the train was nonstop from Brussels--one had to present both proof of vaccination AND a negative PCR test less than 72 hours old. EVERYONE wore a mask covering nose and mouth on the train, in the station, and in the Métro. In shops, too. In town, only in outdoor cafés and restaurants did the masks come off.

It remains to be seen if their hospitals will be as full as ours, but I doubt it will get to the point where it will be like in some parts of the USA, where reports say they are renting refrigerated trucks to store the recently deceased to make room for those about to join them.

I guess some Americans aren't keeping up with the news. Here in Mississippi, people are dropping like flies in our overcrowded hospitals. We've had to ask for federal help because our hospital system is on the verge of collapse. I certainly don't think I would be any more at risk of contracting Covid in western Europe than I am right here at home. France doesn't scare me in the least.

14. I am hopeful to get to Paris next March. As I have mentioned to you, I'll go to Barcelona first for
Sun Sep 5, 2021, 12:25 PM

several days then take the train up to Paris for a week. My daughter and I have been fully vaccinated since March and will have a booster if our docs OK it. Hopefully we can get a PCR test. She's in Boston and I'm in New Haven so we can probably arrange it prior to leaving.

I actually like masks. I don't have to wear a lot of makeup and I feel safer so why not?

Many US states aren't even close to 60% vaccination. Don't get me started on their masks.
