Three schools in Vancouver, Washington went into lockdown Friday after a group of anti-mask protesters that included the Proud Boys attempted to gain entry and disrupt the school day.
Skyview High School, Alki Middle School, and Chinook Elementary were on high alert after local members of the Proud Boys extremist gang, frustrated parents of students, and other anti-maskers rallied against the requirement that students, staff, and teachers wear face coverings.
The incident is just the latest example of the Proud Boys teaming up with anti-maskers to threaten school boards, from Florida to New Hampshire, over COVID mandates.
On Friday, the Proud Boys attempted to escort a freshman student seeking a medical exemption from the mask mandate into the Vancouver school, according to witnesses cited by Oregon Public Broadcasting. The attempted incursion prompted the call for lockdown.

Most kids are pretty good about masking. It's the supposed "adults" messing things up.

And it seems to me very clear that the Proud Boys fall into this area in what they are doing.

(14,811 posts)As would be planning to. Being part of a group planning illegal activity would be enough for prosecution.

(14,811 posts)I know there are limits & restrictions to the First Amendment rights, so knowingly belonging to a group whose sole purpose is illegal activity wouldn't be protected either.

(64,954 posts)...without a difference.
RICO & the Klan act do apply as these people are engaging in a conspiracy to commit illegal acts.
Can we just ban a group? No
Should we make it dangerous & difficult to function as that group? Yes, they're violating the law & conspiring to do so.
The result is the same.
When Joe Pistons infiltrated the Bonanno family, they were relegated to little more than a handful of street thugs.
Didn't have to "ban" anything, but the result was nearly. identical

(14,811 posts)Just opinions you've perceived as facts.
You cited the Constitution & I asked if you could point to that, but instead you chose to insult others down thread.
"Facts" were provided that proved your point wrong (which you reluctantly admitted). You provided an unsubstantiated anecdotal tale of of some gun-toting rebels being allowed at some school, but no facts.

(128,706 posts)Here is the PDF of it - https://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/1600/NewsReleases/2021/21-190-UpdatedStatewidePublicHealthOrder.pdf
This is the original proclamation that the order modifies - https://www.governor.wa.gov/sites/default/files/proclamations/20-05%20Coronavirus%20%28final%29.pdf
Here is what it says at the conclusion above the signature of the state's Health Director -
This order shall take effect on August 23, 2021, and remain in effect until rescinded or superseded by a subsequent order of the Secretary of Health or until the Governor issues a proclamation declaring the termination of the State of Emergency declared by Proclamation 20-05, as amended and extended by subsequent amendatory proclamations, whichever is earlier.
Members of the public are required by law to comply with this order, and violators may be subject to enforcement action pursuant to RCW 43.70.130(7), RCW 70.05.120(4), and WAC 246-100-070(3).
(I even linked to the relevant statutes)

(128,706 posts)37. From reading the story Sun Sep 5, 2021, 01:20 PM
No laws were broken and nobody was hurt or threatened. Mask mandates are not laws passed by any state legislatures. They are executive orders or mandates from the State CDC and a fine is usually the only recourse because it is a civil not criminal infraction.
And you went hogwild on that...
Yet the mandates ARE authorized "by law" and enforced as such.

(34,195 posts)In the 1990's I went to a local high school (I was about 45 years old) to get some info (don't recall what).
I was met at the door by security; asked why I was there and then escorted to the office.
That was about 26 years ago.

(128,706 posts)has been that these individuals, who attempted to illegally trespass on school grounds, forcing a lock down of 3 schools, should have been arrested - and in this case, not just for trespass, but for "escorting a student" who was in violation of the mandate (being without an exemption, which would be something the student's parents or guardians should take care of, not some bunch of RW anti-mask terrorist nuts).
People who carry out "civil disobedience" expect to be arrested. But somehow RW loons manage to escape that penalty.
But I suppose it's the good 'ole "2nd Amendment solution" of "good guys with guns" that must win the day.

(8,920 posts)assholes trying to force their way into a school with their right wing agenda and the school locked down successfully. Nothing about banning entire groups.
GoCubsGo
(32,078 posts)And, yet their antics and trespassing are forcing the district to close the schools. Most, if not all schools DO forbid entry to non-students/staff/parents. A lot of schools make everyone wear a photo ID badge. They are either too stupid to understand that, or they're deliberately stirring up shit. Although, those two things are not mutually exclusive.
