So... If I'm reading the new map right, Boebert will be running against my rep Joe Neguse

It's making us all smile this morning. We are already very happy with Joe but now it gets even better... We get to help rid this country of a loon.

It's a good start to a beautiful Sunday morning

DU'er CrispyQ has the maps (old and new) here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/10415220

I have to admit, I really have little idea what will happen in the 4th district now. It looks little changed but I'll need to find more detailed ones... Plus, I just really am not familiar with a lot of those areas of Colorado yet.

Biden won Colorado by 13 points and Democrats will at the most have a 5-3 advantage and most likely 4-4

After reading the article below it looks like the state will be a 5-3 Democratic advantage or a 4-4 tie…very disappointing seeing that Biden won the state by 13 points which is way more than Trump won Texas, Florida or North Carolina. Republicans in those states are going to gerrymandering the hell out of them which will not be representative of the presidential numbers. Heck, even in states that Biden won i.e Georgia the Congressional delegation isn’t going to be representative of that number.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.denverpost.com/2021/09/03/colorado-commission-releases-new-congressional-map-proposal/amp/

It’s sucks that Democratic controlled states unilaterally disarmed their redistricting while Republicans didn’t

redistricting but took the “high ground” of a commission like Colorado’s.

Even in Oregon the Democrats bent to Republican demands…and then you can throw in our two biggest Democratic states (California and NY)….Democrats are losing out in prime gerrymandering opportunities two offset what Republicans are going to do in Texas, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina…

Yes, I think that gerrymandering should be illegal…but Democrats can’t unilaterally disarm…they have to play the game….in baseball you can steal a base, it’s like one team saying well we aren’t going to do it because we don’t think that’s right, while the team they are playing against steal bases

The new 8th, Adams County to Greeley, went D and is also a quickly growing area that is getting even bluer (more blue? ehhh). Colorado is still very much a fast growing state with mostly people on the left coming here. We are blue and will continue going in that direction.

But even 5-3 is ridiculous seeing that Biden won the state by 13 points….it should be at least 6-2 of the districts were drawn right

You are talking about three vast areas that kind of need to be that big in order to keep things reasonably even in terms of population. It would have to be done crazy partisan... Blatantly, crazy and over the top partisan. I get your opinion that Dem's should cheat as repugs do but it is not something I think would fly here in Colorado. I think it would push a lot of independents to the right at a time when crazy like Boebert is spreading is pushing them to the left.

Even if she lives in the new district, she can choose a nearby Republican-lenaing district in which to run. The Constitution stipulates only that a member of the House live in the state, not necessarily in the district.
