I got a pack of butterfly pea tea flowers.
It's fucking amazing.
It's a regular well known beverage in southeast Asia. It's beginning to be sold in America now.
Got my flowers from Amazon.
First of all the blue color of the tea is beautiful.
Secondly, it changes color. Add sugar it turns purple, lemon turns it purple too.
However adding stevia makes it stay blue.
It's high in antioxidants.
Caffeine free.
And the best part of all, it has anti diabetic effect.
I've been drinking it hot and iced between meals.
And my morning sugar levels are better (109 vs 116 or 17!)
It makes it easier to control your sugar levels and slows down carb metabolism. Also it has anti inflammation properties too .
When I read about the tea's anti diabetic properties I was skeptical. You are supposed to drink it in between meals. I do that plus a glass before bed. Because it's delicious.
It has actually brought my sugar levels down.
Bought it because of the blue color and I wondered what it tasted like.
It has an aftertaste that is pea like.
Other than that it's kinda like camomile tea in flavor.
I got rid of the pea flavor after taste by adding a drop of cherry extract from olive nation. Don't overdo it.
And omg it's delicious now. I am going to make a pitcher of it to drink it iced.

(12,463 posts)Here is the cherry flavoring I use to add to the tea. Only use a little bit to change the aftertaste.

(90,674 posts)I used to be in a Mediterranean Climate Zone (just my little bit of SoCal) but moved a couple of miles to a generally hotter & of course drier zone. All my Mediterranean herbs in planters are still doing quite well, though.

(12,463 posts)It removes the pea like aftertaste. It enhances the good tastes in the tea.
