Facebook users who watched a newspaper video featuring black men were asked if they wanted to "keep seeing videos about primates" by an artificial-intelligence recommendation system.
Facebook told BBC News it "was clearly an unacceptable error", disabled the system and launched an investigation.
"We apologise to anyone who may have seen these offensive recommendations."
It is the latest in a long-running series of errors that have raised concerns over racial bias in AI.

(37,748 posts)Not merely in that it's an Argument from Fallacy (resulting in it being, by definition, wrong), but also predicated on the fallacy, Denying the Antecedent.
Wrong, yes. True? Arguable; but logic and reason do not pretend wrong and untrue (or right and true) are synonymous, but in fact, two separate constructs.

Of course, this AI thing was erroneously programmed, but that does not change the facts.

And even though I'm in my fifties now, I can still climb a tree pretty well (so long are there are some low-hanging branches.)
