No Vax, No Visit: South Florida Doctor Won't Treat Unvaccinated Patients in Person

Dr. Linda Marraccini says she won’t treat you in person in her office if you’re not vaccinated against COVID-19.
“I understand that people are free to choose, but to me, it’s a problem when it affects other people,” Dr. Marraccini said. “When it comes to the safety of others, when it comes to the fact that it’s a global health problem and community health problem, at this point, I really say that this is where it draws the line in the sand for me,” Dr. Marraccini said.
Dr. Marraccini says 10 to 15 percent of her patients were unvaccinated. She gave them a month to help them work out a plan moving forward.

The family practice physician based out of South Miami sent a letter to her patients saying they will no longer continue serving patients who are not vaccinated from CCOVID-19 by Sept. 15. She says their reason was based on science and not politics and that they didn’t want to subject other patients and staff to unnecessary risk.

The physician explained that her letter does not violate the Hippocratic Oath, regarding the obligations of doctors to their patients, because she’s still giving the option for telemedicine or helping with referrals to other doctors. Doctors also have access to records from the Florida Department of Health that shows the vaccine status of their patients.

Earlier this year, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill that could start issuing up to
$5,000 fines to businesses, schools and government agencies that ask for proof that you’re vaccinated.
Florida reported 129,240 cases and 433 deaths for the week of Aug. 27-Sept. 2.
Only fifty-five percent of the state’s population has been fully vaccination.

We need to do this with all hospital bed space and health car professional's time for all
adults with C-19 who have refused to be vaccinated too.

…retired, we used to get a lot of expectant parents asking if we accepted families that did not immunized because they did not wish to and needed to find a practice that was OK with this. The answer used to be yes.

Several years ago, the same question continued to be asked, but the reason was different. Expectant parents did NOT want to bring their new baby to a place that allowed unvaccinated children. The “baby shots” begin at the 2 month visit, and there are exams at 3-5 days, 2 weeks, and 1 month prior to that, so 3 times in the waiting room with exposure to potentially unvaccinated children. So now, that answer is no.

The practice is in the process of dismissing chronic non-vaxxers.

I can see more and more offices adopting this policy, which is going to make things very difficult for families with kids. Even more so for those struggling to make ends meet, or single parents.
