My daughter has a flock of 5 hens that eat all the kitchen waste from their family of 5 and all the garden waste as well. Their composted droppings make excellent fertilizer for the garden, and they cannot eat all the eggs. Excess eggs are given to family and friends. Plus, the hens make great pets! All this on about a 1/4 acre suburban piece of land.
