Amazon.com Inc. on Wednesday gained approval to test prototype antennas for its Project Kuiper, according to documents filed by the Federal Communications Commission.
Project Kuiper is Amazon's plan to launch a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites to provide global broadband service which would be powered by the company's cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services. Amazon said the Kuiper system would benefit "tens of millions of unserved and underserved consumers and businesses."
The approval from the FCC answered a request from Amazon in August in which it asked to start testing antennas at the Project Kuiper labs in Redmond. The company also revealed the location of its Project Kuiper labs through the coordinates it said the antennas would be operating from.
The Business Journal reported through unnamed sources in January 2020 that Amazon's satellite division would be headquartered in the Redmond Commerce Center, two buildings at 18340 and 18460 NE 76th St., which the filing confirmed.

(7,616 posts)There's no service outside major metro areas. 3 options and they're all magically $80.
40 miles away I got 200 mbps for half that and great customer service.

And, Big Brother will instead use it to exploit us, to spy on us collectively and individually, and collect data on us to better target market to us.
