Bleacher Creature
(11,256 posts)1. I saw an interview with her at the very beginning of the pandemic.
She predicted that we'd be looking at about 36 months of disruption. She was a bit skeptical that we'd have a vaccine within a year, but she also assumed that we'd have an easier time vaccinating Americans. She also thought the biggest challenge would be to vaccinate the rest of the world, in order to contain outbreaks and new variants before they got here.
Like everyone else, she missed a few things, but so far she's been as prescient as anyone I've seen or read.

Rachel was stunned at what she was hearing. This was 2-3 weeks before everything fell apart.

The interview with Rachel was really the first time I started to realize just how unprepared we were and the scale of what was to come.
