(68,456 posts)will one day tell her grandchildren (if she has kids which is not decided) about it. I want to go again. But I know with a knee that can act up and Covid everywhere, my husband will pitch a fit. Damn him he really loves me! .
How is your Mom doing SheShe...it is hard work to care for a person who is ill. My hubs had two spinal surgeries and it was tough on me. And you have been doing it for quite a while. Yesterday I posted a pic of my dog in pets. I realized the pic had caught my hubs urinal during the time he was so sick so I deleted it and put a new pic on the forum...brought back some very unpleasant memories. He is doing pretty well and working again (lost his job about a month ago but got as new one).

(83,654 posts)We would have to do MA transit from Boston to the common. Even though masks are required, still don't want to be packed tightly with so many people.
Thanks for asking about mom, Demsrule...she is doing ok for 95. Yeah, it's hard and COVID made it so much harder. 3 and a half years now, just my sister and I. Gppd to hear your hubs is doing better and has a new job!

(68,456 posts)diagnosed just before Christmas gone by February. I had three small kids so I couldn't go for as long as I wanted... spent 10 days with her between Christmas and the second week in January. I had to be back for hub's job (he took time off so I could go...he is a wonderful man) and the two older kid's school. My youngest brother cared for her in his home. He was single and had lost his job. He told me once it was a gift to be able to spend those last days with her and talk about everything... a lot of work of course. But it allowed her to die at home and not in a hospital or hospice and he spent a great deal of time with her. It truly is a gift for your mother - and I expect - despite the hard work for you and your sister too. God Bless you and keep you.

It's the burning(bringing to heel) the institutions that have kept women behind. The GOP is mostly old white men writing laws to restrict women the right over their own bodies and make a joke out of rape, the church (old vows were love, honor and obey
One job interview I went to, newly married, I was asked if I planned to have children anytime soon. I was shocked. They pay women far less than a man. TV shows, women dressed in Sunday best clothes with full makeup and pearls, a ruffled white apron serving her man breakfast. They all want a stepford wife and we are saying, HELL NO.
Fact is one of the leading nations in the world are as bad as third world countries when it comes to women.

(30,803 posts)But that's an important start.
We need to bring things to a screeching halt in this country. States with restrictive laws need to be boycotted, with businesses refusing to settle or stay there. Events need to be cancelled (concerts, for example). Abortion needs to be liberated and talked about. Shine some light in the shadows like we did with rape in the MeToo Movement. Governments need to be petitioned to enlist any legal action possible to support women's rights. Shut down reporting web sites for spying on women. Somehow get the abortion drug available to any woman who needs it, so this can be a private decision.

Here's the text
It's official: We're marching to defend our abortion rights and reproductive freedom on October 2.
Pledge to March with us right now: bit.ly/3jH3OWQ
After the Supreme Court rejected an emergency request to block Texas' 6-week abortion ban and threatens Roe v. Wade, we must make it clear to anti-choice extremists that we will not stand by quietly as they attempt to control our bodies.
On October 2, Women's March and over 90 partner organizations are marching in every single state ahead of the Supreme Court reconvening on October 4.
This is your fight. This is our fight. Take the pledge to march with us on October 2: bit.ly/3jH3OWQ

From the Women's March, October 2nd Action, pledge to mobilize
Text MARCH to 44310 for urgent action alerts & updates from Womens March.
PLEDGE TO MOBILIZE: DEFEND OUR REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
On October 2, we're marching in every single state ahead of the Supreme Court reconvening on October 4. Women's March and more than 90 other organizations, including National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, Planned Parenthood, SHERO Mississippi, Mississippi in Action, Access Reproductive Care-Southeast, The Frontline, Working Families Party, and SisterSong, are organizing a national call to mobilize and defend our reproductive rights.
Abortion has never been fully accessible, but we are at the risk of losing our reproductive freedom completely. The call to action is clear, and urgent. The relentless attacks from Texas to Mississippi are ramping up quickly. Anti-choice extremists have a deep desire to return to a time when there was more clear and effective domination and control over queer and trans folks, women, and people of color; they want to revive those old values and societal norms to the point of re-acceptance. The authoritarian agenda of reproductive control is fueled by misogyny and racism - and we must challenge it, together.
On October 2, were going to send the Supreme Court and lawmakers across the country a clear, unified message. The attack on our reproductive rights will not be tolerated.
We have this opportunity to invite all the people that know us and love us into this important movement and work united as we build something better for our families and communities. As a small powerful group tries to come for our human rights over and over again, well never let go of our vision of reproductive justice; for unfettered abortion access and everything we need to support and grow our families to thrive and live healthy lives.

(51,567 posts)I learned what had happened last week and didn't see any event planned and was very disheartened. Learning of the March today gave me my mojo back.
With the almost 4 weeks remaining before the event there will be plenty of time for planning and getting the word out. I have the feeling there will be marches in other countries too, as there were in 2017.

(51,567 posts)and was the only woman tried in PA (Phila, even William Penn spoke out in her favor). She was found not-guilty even though witnesses saw their livestock elevated. Missing livestock was the reason behind it, apparently. The family moved to New Jersey after the acquittal. I am so glad I have this in my family...I am proud of it and wish I had some of her supposed powers.

(51,567 posts)and even though she didn't find this person of any particular interest but I sure did. Even the "witch's" own daughter testified against her mother.
When I was studying to be a teacher I learned that nurses were taking business away from doctors in the 1600s and that was one of the reasons that the whole "witches" issue began.

(109 posts)I did a little research yesterday, just google it " are contraceptives abortion". Then read the articles from so many right to life groups that say yes. Apparently the first two weeks after fertilization the embryo is not implanted into the uterus. They think birth control pills prevent it from being implanted into the uterus and that is abortion to them. They want contraceptives illegal. Talk about that with people and they just do not believe you.
