That is why Texas citizens took their abortion issue to the Supreme Court. That is why the Court refused to interfere. They smell the blood of liberals.
Just as McCarthy and his Republican accomplices in the House believe they are not answerable to the law. Just as the Cult members of Trump still believe he is going to be back in the White House. They are not giving up. They are doubling down.
They do not believe the Democrats will do anything to deter them. They are too busy being liberals. They believe in good government and the rule of law. Republicans are concerned with neither.
They are lying about Afghanistan. They are lying about Joe Biden. They will lie about whatever they think benefits them.
They are in too deep to turn back now. They are fighting for their lives. They are desperate and will do whatever they can get away with.

If you have a problem with that, report my post.
Otherwise, shoo.
EDIT: Welcome to my Ignore List, self-appointed comment cop.

(11,122 posts)and said it and what you had to say had nothing to do with the OP, but DU'ers are not as hip and feisty as you.
Way to duck responsibility for your words.
Shoo yourself.

(9,241 posts)Democrat's JOB is to stop that happening and to fully and powerfully represent the people - in order to prevent that happening. Of course we must do our part too but we have been - the politicians don't seem to grok where we are though. I think some of them do but too many do not. Garland...well...he seems just ineffective. And Manchin and others in the senate who are clinging to the damn filibuster, insufferable.

(3,554 posts)If the day comes, when POC, Women, and the Others come to the point where we believe that our votes will not count, or that we can no longer vote, or believe that the system is so rigged as to negate our vote, then this I believe - there will be blood in the streets.
On that day, the Unyoung, Unpoor and Uncolored will realize that there will be hell to pay.
If we cannot be part of the system, the nation - then to hell with the system.
We may not win, but we will destroy the nation for all times.
This I believe.

We have been dealing with this crap and much worse for decades. The difference is that we don't whine and complain and assume all is lost, but is read just signing and try harder and climb over obstacles and continue to believe. And for the most part we did it without blood in the streets (and most of the blood that did end up in the streets was ours ...)
A whole lot of folks wringing their hands now never seem to notice our struggle and definitely didn't dig into help us. In fact, lots of them criticized us and told us we were overreacting. But now that they're getting a taste of what we've been dealing with all along, They think it's a brand new, insurmountable crisis major crisis.
So please don't put us in the category of people who suddenly figured out that the system is rigged against us. We've known it all along - welcome to our reality.

(3,554 posts)My opinion is valid to me, I may share it - and you can take it for what's it worth, or ignore. I really do not care.
Having been raised in Jim Crow south, attended legally mandated segregated schools, living in a town where races are separated by the rail road tracks, KKK a fact of life, and opportunities based on said race, I don't need your validation of my beliefs.

(53,032 posts)and a perspective that white people like me can learn from.
Jakes Progress
(11,122 posts)I work with a lot of very poor people. I get told every day by POC that my optimism and desire to change things is because of my white upbringing. I'm told that there ain't no use fighting or struggling, that the system is set up and that I'm too white to know that it can't be changed.
Don't lump all white people in together, and don't lump all POC in together. People of all kinds and all backgrounds bring different perspectives to a problem. Chewing out the ones who are trying to help is just stupid.
StarfishSaver
(18,486 posts)And I'll bet those you are engaging with have felt that way for quite awhile - they aren't going to suddenly figure out at some point in the future that the system is rigged and start spilling "blood in the streets," as the OP predicts. POC have known and experienced this for years. And, fortunately, most of us have NOT given up but continued to fight, even when others told us it wasn't worth it.
And please spare me the "don't lump everyone together" instructions. Obviously when we talk about ANY group - be it whites, minorities, Democrats, women, men, Texans, Americans, Millennials, teachers, etc. - we're generalizing about the whole, not claiming every single member acts, feels and thinks exactly the same way, so the "not all white/POC people" response is not necessary.
FYI, the comment I responded to is not as an example of "trying to help" and stating facts is not "chewing out."
Jakes Progress
(11,122 posts)You didn't spare the OP.
Look. You got caught making generalizations based on race and background. I see your point. Just apologize and make clear what you mean. Don't couch your clarification with excuses. Why should you get to "generalizing about the whole" when you take the OP to task for doing just that?
