Rawlings sporting goods turns it's back on American Workers

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/minnesota-town-outsourcing-mlb-gear/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&linkId=130588512

But soon, the batting helmet production will shift to Missouri and the bat production will move to China. For Caledonia, a town tucked into the southeastern corner of Minnesota, the shift means good-paying jobs leaving town and most leaving the country.

...

Major League Baseball owns less than 20% of Rawlings and says the decision to close the Miken facility was made independently.

"MLB does not have a role in the day to day business operations of Rawlings, particularly with respect to items that are not made for MLB use," a spokesman for the league told CBS News. "The sole MLB product made in this facility will continue to be manufactured in the United States as are all MLB batting helmets, on-field uniforms and hats."

I'm fine with consolidating within the US if they need to, but China .... Baseball .... made in China. Ugh.

I was raised in a union household. I married a union man. We've been begging people to buy American for so many decades without success that I wonder if anyone even cares besides the workers losing their jobs.

Race to the bottom ...........

we have done a lot of remodeling and refurbishing of our home. We tied ourselves in knots trying to get furniture, carpets, mattresses, etc., made in the US. For the most part, we succeeded. Some of it was more expensive and custom made. Well, we will only be doing this once before we die.

I married a union man, too.

Over the years, my ball glove of choice has always been the Rawlings fastback model.
