It used to be the practice for cable news networks to display an active chart on the TV screen showing daily Covid infections and deaths, every day.
I don't see that any more, I don't even hear it being reported.
My question: doesn't ignoring the ongoing daily Covid infections and deaths give everyone a false sense of security, like, Oh boy there isn't anything to worry about I got vaccinated?
I believe that cable news is contributing to Covid infections and deaths by not showing the running totals like they used to do.

(13,964 posts)the news should go back to a death tally thats on the screen all day. Many people think this things over. I heard the other day that were back to 1500 dying a day.

(21,303 posts)3 or 4 days ago we had over 1,500 Covid daeths. Think about that for a minute, 1,500 Covid deaths wasn't newsworthy. The tragic deaths of our military people in Afghanistan is still on going.
I mean I cite examples like going to church wearing a mask was mandatory when deaths were high like they are now, but no, the church is even afraid to offend the right wing mask narrative. I counted 4 people wearing masks in church last Sunday.
The real kicker, listen to sports reporters gleefully reporting how great it is to have thousands of screaming fans packed like sardines screaming for 3 1/2 hours.
I think the narrative is really that money is more important than saving lives. Our world really isn't pro life.

Did Faux ever show the numbers. I never ever turn that on in my home.

(2,962 posts)They want it to be over.
So they m ake it over in their heads.
Sad.
It takes a family member to bring it home.
The CDC didn't help with the mask off for those with the vaccine.

(7,153 posts)States used to report daily.
KS was one of the first to switch to MWF reporting.
Now NE only reports on Wednesdays. With NO county totals.
And FL late on Fridays (BUT one has to take the cumulative death tolls to see both the fresh and delayed reporting). AND they quit reporting on non-resident cases and deaths.
And many states stopped reporting on the weekends.
I think that's why news coverage shifted to "7-day moving averages" to represent what is going on.
