(5,275 posts)30+ years of right wing talk/ media has brought us here. We have always had far right folks but more and more have eventually been molded to join with them.

(12,265 posts)All they watch is that media so they think they are the majority, but in truth they are not. So many on the left are just plain afraid of these bullies and won't engage them. I saw it at a school board meeting the other night.

(13,912 posts)They need to be confronted whenever possible (not physically obviously). Otherwise it results in them being able to influence school boards and the like because the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

(2,541 posts)A mad, mad, mad, mad, mad world.
When I pointed this out to a co-worker a week or two ago his basic reasoning that this was just fine, debated back with a straight face and in all seriousness as if we were discussing the data results from a test done was that we can see shooters so training for an incident is legit, we cant see virus so we dont even know if it is there or if a mask does any good. Being in a work environment I had to remain respectful and professional, so after picking my jaw up off the floor I respectfully disagreed and left it at that. However again I was struck by the fact I have known this person for 10 yrs. I have been in many many mtgs with him to discuss results of an experiment and determine next steps. I never had any inclination this was how he viewed this subject. Its like Jeckyll & Hyde
now that I have seen the other side of this person I will never think of him in the same way I have since mtg him.

I keep harping on it like Sisyphus pushing that stone uphill...
Hate Radio is the key.
People tend to think of it as just Hannity, or Zombie Rush, but it's the local cookie cutter hatemongers that drive this shit.
Don't believe me, just listen to your local hate station on election day. They will dive as deep as specific neighborhoods and streets where they need " more, or LESS" voters going to the polls.
They rile these people up and urge them to descend on School Boards and City Council meetings.
Hate Radio is the exhaust port on the Retrumplican Death Star.
Take Hate Radio out, or even just fight back against it a little harder, and eventually, you wouldn't be able to find two Retrumplicans to rub together in a public mens room (bathroom reference courtesy of former Retrumplican Senator Larry Craig)

(12,265 posts)They are big, loud and in your face, very very intimidating. When we were making calls to get people to come to the meeting in support of a mask mandate (in the face of our crazy gov and his legislature), it was really hard to get them to come. Many, many of them said they feared for their safety and the safety of their kids.
This is terrorism folks, nothing more nothing less.
