(10,974 posts)RU-486 requires a prescription and I'm not sure about the answer to that. I've seen a lot of mentions about places that will ship it though.
RU-486 is legal (for now, or at least as of 8/31) through 10 weeks.

(17,414 posts)but I really do not know for sure.
But if it is prohibited, I can guess what women will be doing.
They will have the pill procured by an out of state friend, and their friend will ship it to them under a fake return address.
That's what I would be doing, anyway.

(17,414 posts)they have no standing.
Since a mail carrier has no way of determining what is in a package, I doubt if any reasonable judge would find him/her guilty of violating this "law".
But you're right...as it stands now, someone would indeed try to sue the mail carrier, the USPS, the company who made the box that the pill is packaged in, and the office supply store who sold the pen to write the person's address on the package.

(25,952 posts)There are those who paint Plan B as an abortion pill when it is not in order to confuse the issue. It is a contraceptive.

(19,224 posts)And it's OTC.
It is NOT the abortion pill, RU-486.
So it shouldn't be capable of violating Texas law. No lawsuit

(63,893 posts)birth control.
hlthe2b
(102,142 posts)The former is birth control after the fact for a short time (up to 120 hours) to prevent fertilization by delaying the release of the egg and is thus NOT an abortifacient. Also known as "Plan B."
RU486, on the other hand, IS an abortion-inducing combination of two drugs.

(102,142 posts)Got to protect those TX men from the so-called "conniving woman" who might want to take his money for child support, after all (though she might have to move out of state to get a court to grant her any)...
This is all about the control/subjugation of women.
