Hmmm. Unvaccinated, of course.

Orrin Heatlie, the retired Yolo County sheriffs sergeant who started the recall movement last year, confirmed to The Sacramento Bee that he tested positive for the virus and has been isolating while recovering.
Heatlie said he did not receive the COVID-19 vaccine prior to his infection, and his case was not severe enough to warrant a hospital stay or any extreme measures.
I was given some medication for a cough, but that was it, he said.
Heatlies infection highlights what has been perhaps the most divisive issue in the recall campaign.

(19,187 posts)he's been given more than cough syrup.
I'd wager he's received monoclonal antibodies, along with steroids. Perhaps even more than that.
No one comes down with COVID, alpha or delta, and just suffers an annoying cough.

(21,347 posts)some asymptomatic cases, or cases so mild that they caused mostly just coughing and fatigue.
Don't know if that holds true for delta, but I wouldn't think so. The only asymptomatic or very mild cases of delta that I know of are in vaccinated people with breakthrough infections.

(19,187 posts)and a pail of water.....STAT!
From an old National Lampoon joke penned in the early 70s. For some reason it stuck in the recesses of my mind for all these years.
Of course I was high as a kite when I read it.

Thank you! Where did you find it?
Like I said, I saw it in National Lampoon magazine in the early 70s, can't remember what issue, and I was completely wasted when I saw it, but it always stuck in my mind.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

(23,487 posts)people forget that at DU. The amount of people who end up in the hospital is absolutely devastating for the hospitals. It's a lot of people for sure. BUT that doesn't mean most people who get delta end up in the hospital.

As the pandemic-fueled campaign to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom of California heads into its last week, its lead proponent said he has been sidelined with the coronavirus.
Orrin Heatlie, 52, a retired Republican sheriffs sergeant from Yolo County, said he was at home recovering from a bout of the coronavirus.
Thought I was immune as Ive had it before, Mr. Heatlie said in a text message, adding that he is unvaccinated. Then spent 13 hours in a warm truck traveling back from Wyoming with a friend who came down with it on the trip.

He may have gotten quite a load of it. And epidemiologists have said that "natural immunity" from having contracted it before is somewhat "diffuse" (non-specific) and wanes much faster when compared to the targeted vaccines.
