State health officials said new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to soar, primarily among people who haven't been vaccinated.

Sounds as if my husband and I got out of town just in time. Having moved north now, I'm seeing more masks than I'd seen worn in Knox recently. Residents were acting as if the virus had done a disappearing act despite news to the contrary. Just looked at the stats and the numbers are indeed up and Knoxville ICU availability is shrinking to scary levels, down to 6.5%.

On our way up to PA, we traveled through areas in VA that had protocols in place. Some of the fast-food places had closed their dining areas, drive-up service only. Not sure if these were Covid hotspots or a problem with staffing. The signs on the doors all said, 'Due to current Covid conditions.'

Had a recent conversation with a friend outside Memphis. She lives in Lakewood where she said masks are now required everywhere.

So, some of these areas in the state are getting the message. Too slow for sure. But some. Rising death rates will do that, I guess.

Take care and stay well, Sheltie!

Memphis & Shelby County, has wonderful Dem leadership. Of course, Lee & legislators are qpukes.

Yes, masks are mandated everywhere indoors here, but it seems that oblivious ignorance prevails.

Teachers in schools not masking, employees in gas stations, etc., same.

I wish there were like a $5,000 fine for violation, but of course that will never happen, here anyway.

I envy you moving north where people think & read on purpose.
