I hope it is only for the first 3 weeks because I didn't care for her enough for her to be the forever host. Nor Jennings who is pushing for the job.
As Jeopardy! navigates the chaos surrounding its quest to name a new host, the show has found a temporary solution.
Mayim Bialik, a neuroscientist and actress known for her role as Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, will host 15 episodes of the quiz show, Sony Pictures Television said in a statement to the Deseret News on Monday.
In addition to hosting 15 episodes (three weeks worth of shows), Bialik will also host primetime and spin-off specials of Jeopardy! including the Jeopardy! National College Championship that will air on ABC next year, the Deseret News reported.

That said, they should have picked LeVar Burton.

(33,643 posts)I thought she did fine during those 2 weeks.
Is there another person out there who'd maybe 'better' per some people?
Certainly so.
But she did a solid job, and it's just a game show.

(5,812 posts)She was difficult to understand and made watching Jeopardy a chore. The CC was really slow and I missed a lot of what was going on.
I hope that she is not their choice.

(33,643 posts)This is a brilliant Jewish woman, with a doctorate in the sciences, who has, despite possessing average 'looks', with a body profile of an average woman, made a great career in Hollywood, including starring in one of the most popular sitcoms of all time.
And people are against her being the hostess of Jeopardy? Even though she did just as good a job as anyone else in the tryouts?
I really don't get it
Me.
(35,454 posts)But what does that have to do with her hosting Jeopardy? And the reason I don't want her is I don't think she did as good a job as everyone else. There were some who did a better IMHO.

(9,073 posts)I don't agree with every complaint lobbed against her in that article, but the baby stuff is . . . yikes. People have been cancelled for a hell of a lot less than suggesting babies should be allowed to die if they cannot survive natural, vaginal birth.
Her thoughts on the Weinstein saga didn't go down well either.

The whole idea of a host is someone most people will like, i.e. without a divisive or controversial history. Especially for a show like Jeopardy, where the audience skews older. That's why Jennings is a problem. The man kept running his mouth on Twitter.
Bialik has a history littered with some serious crazy. The show can do better.

Thats a basic probationary period.
Let her have he chance.
Aaron Rodgers or Anderson Cooper for me.
But yes its just one opinion.

(33,643 posts)It's possible I'm forgetting someone, but I'd guess the closest anyone could come up with is the original 'you ARE the weakest link' lady.
Point being ... I think we should give a woman a shot at a big gig like this.
Even if there's maybe a man who'd do a slightly better job.
Regardless of what anyone else thinks, I'm pulling for Mayim.

(94 posts)11 seasons on Millionaire, including 2 Emmys. Then she's been doing "25 Words or Less" for the last 3 years.
Brooke Burke and Sarah Haines have combined for 6 seasons of The Chase.
Hell, even Betty White won an Emmy for "Just Men!" even if it was only on for 13 weeks.
I'm OK with Ms. Bialik. I thought she kept the game moving well, and had a pleasant vocal tone, which are the two most important things about hosting Jeopardy! Buzzy Cohen, too, was outstanding, as was David Faber.
I really don't understand the love for Aaron Rodgers. He just sounded bored. As for LeVar Burton, he was my sight-unseen first choice....until I saw him actually host. He just couldn't get the hang of it. Delayed rulings, choppy delivery...he was just too tentative. The players couldn't get a rhythm.

(10,885 posts)The first week's shows will be hosted by Mike Richards. Following that will be Bialik's three weeks.
From your linked article:
They tape five shows per day. The shows taped with Richards on 8/19 are the five shows of the first week. They needed to include these in the line-up because of the continuity of the players. Matt Amodio will be the returning champ at that time. Airing Richards' episodes was a dilemma, but it was deemed the only way to be equitable to the 8/19 contestants.
I was reading an article online earlier tonight regarding the new buzz around Buzzy. Apparently the voices for him are being heard by TPTB, and he's getting a favorable swing in his direction. He'd certainly be my first choice to be the new host.
Me.

(63,911 posts)I loved Alex and always will have the fondest of memories of him as Jeopardy host. Now we have to move on even if it means him being replaced by a Jewish woman or a black man.
Nobody is gonna be another Alex Trebek.

(28,817 posts)It doesnt matter who is replaced. The new MC will make their own space and it will become their show.

(63,911 posts)But I do confess my own mourning for Trebek. I think it's because we saw the humanity of Alex and can mourn his passing away from our lives. And the way he faced his own death, with grace and humility.

(63,911 posts)The author (whose name escapes me) had written a book, which I read avidly, of every piece of art in that wing, as he had been the museum's director in the years just prior to WW2. I decided to follow the path laid out in the book. It was my last day in London and I never thought I'd be back, so I pushed myself to finish it. My back has never been the same but I did it!
