Idaho enacts 'crisis standards of care' protocol to battle worsening Covid

Idaho public health leaders have activated “crisis standards of care” allowing health are rationing for the state’s northern hospitals because there are more coronavirus patients than the institutions can handle.

The Idaho department of health and welfare quietly enacted the move on Monday and publicly announced it in a statement on Tuesday morning – warning residents that they may not get the care they would normally expect if they need to be hospitalized.

The move came as the state’s confirmed coronavirus cases rocketed in recent weeks. Idaho has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the US.

Governor Brad Little, a Republican, called the move to limit care “an unprecedented and unwanted point in the history of our state” and urged residents to get vaccinated against coronavirus.

4. Formalized or not, I would suspect the majority of hospitals are doing some level of crisis triage

My guess is the smaller, more rural and low vaccination area hospitals have been hit first but most others are quickly following. And the duration of this pandemic has almost all front line medical providers at some level of burnout. There are no more traveling nurses to hire and states saying they are going to do that to augment local staff are mostly blowing smoke to make people think they are actually doing something that will help. They may place the ads but are not getting applicants. Sadly, this will get much worse before it gets better and we should all expect any care we need, Covid related or not, will be slower and at a potentially compromised level of quality due to what the medical community has been weathering for over 18 months now. It is illogical and infuriating to be in this situation just to allow "free choice" for the morons too stupid or too lazy to get vaccinated.

2 more fake vaccine cards were found in the past 36 hours in possession of patients admitted with covid. That's brings our total to 6 within about 3 weeks. They all claimed to be fully vaxxed and presented these fake cards as proof. The DOJ needs to address this problem!
