The @USNavy's latest COVID update reports that 80% of active-duty sailors are vaccinated, for 75% of the entire force. That's heads and shoulders above the other services. For comparison, the Air Force is reporting 66.5% for active duty, and a little less than that for the reserve.
Close quarters would be motivation. Also a big motivation to be able to skip pre- and post-deployment quarantine, or go on liberty during deployments.

(5,598 posts)But this tin can sailor can testify that social distancing is impossible on those boats, and sleeping quarters put everybody at risk for every virus that comes along. So 80% is a great start, but not really acceptable for preventing outbreaks.

(7,638 posts)On the carriers. They used pneumatic injections one on each side sometimes. The kicker, you got the vaccine or flu shot or whatever and you got liberty. Else your ass stayed aboard ship.
