High school. Junior year.
Everybody back. No more virtual. Masks all day except lunch. No water in class - have to step out in the hall to lower their mask and take a sip.
No mandated vaccines. No questions either from what Im told. Our kid is fully vaxxed.
No bus - someone forgot to fill out the form. Mom is teleworking full time still so until the bus situation changes we are dropping off and picking up.
Preset assigned seats. No first day groupings of friends. This establishes contact tracing should someone become sick.
Lunch - skipped and staggered chairs. No one sits next to or across from anyone.
Wont get a laptop until Monday. Everyone in the school system 6-12 has a laptop. No carry around text books. This is not new.
Good to be back and see friends.

(23,922 posts)I can't even put into words how relieved I am that both of our sons are finished with HS and college. (The oldest is finishing up his second Masters, and will then pursue a Doctorate, but fortunately those will be done online through VA Tech and W&M.)

(45,657 posts)Guess a junior in high school is not so little anymore.
But no matter how old my daughter gets she is always my baby.
I thank god I am not having to worry about a young child in school.
I would probably go nuts.
My daughter works in a hospital so I still get to worry.

(32,626 posts)if I remember correctly, it sounds kind of normal-ish, or hopeful? People going about their day, doing life the best they can.
