General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI absolutely HATE CNN these days. Earlier they had a so-called "expert" on the Afghan evacuation....
....to discuss the plane that left this morning for Qatar.
He was introduced and asked his thoughts on that. His FIRST three words were "my big concern" (maybe big worry, whatever). Not a word about how great this was that 200 more were leaving the country.
Now, they're talking about COVID, and Dana Bash said something like "we have to remember that XXX people have died since Biden took office, and that's a mark on this presidency"
WTF??????
It's almost like I'm watching Fox News!!

(8,922 posts)MSNBC and CNN are 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, now, and in 2015/2016.
There is "light" in the commentary between Fox and the other two. Neither CNN or MSNBC are "full Fox". Anyone who thinks they are needs to watch a little more Fox and pay attention to their propaganda delivery, which is brutal compared to the other two.
That doesn't mean MSNBC or CNN are the so called "liberal media" either. They are corporate media that deal in sensationalism. They flip like jumping beans on their coverage. But they both have some truth tellers mixed in to their spin and lies. Fox programming is all liars, all day, every day, 7 days a week. CNN has indeed gone full Fox on all their Afghanistan coverage I have personally heard. It has been delivered in Fox like brutality.
We need a "liberal media" with market share equivalent to the other 3. Unfortunately we didn't install one like Murdoch did.

(10,429 posts)and some evening shows. Other than that, it's just blahblahblah all day. The also have a very annoying way of running things into the ground and keep going, like the missing plane a few years ago. Apparently, they're unable to think about more than one thing if they decide that thing is "important".

(267 posts)This morning MJ Scarborough and the MJ crew walked back their complaints re. the evacuation of Afghanistan, excluding the first day. That's a fair view, but should have been given a bit at a time as the known facts on ground emerged day to day. unfortunately cable news coverage too often resembles TV sports coverage, say over reaction monday!!!! How ever several of the more intelligent foreign affairs pundits including Ignatius at the Post have walked back their first reactions.

(6,486 posts)CorpoPravda (or Plutocracy Pravda, if you prefer) is back completely after their brief fling with doing some real journalism during the TFG years.
I stopped watching all TV news about 20 years ago. Matt Lauer was my tipping point. He wasn't really worse than the rest; he just happened to be my tipping point.
When Keith Olberman got his show on MSNBC, I watched him, and then Rachel too. Eventually I watched a lot of MSNBC. Then during the Orange Menace years, the NYT, WaPo, and CNN all did some actual journalism for awhile.
But now that *it* is gone, the media have gone back to full-on Faux Lite.
