Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsBreaking: Department of Labor will announce that employees at all businesses with more than 100
workers must either have been vaccinated or are tested once weekly.
This is on top of all Federal workers being required to be vaccinated.
Lots of fines coming for masks on flights as well.

(5,557 posts)Company X should have 20 employees, but only has 17 right now due to the labor crunch. They can't spare the time and resources to come up with a formal program to cover the requirement without a significant negative impact.
Have to consider likely avenues the Pubs will take to try and overturn. Burden on small businesses is a common and obvious one, because there could be a nugget of truth to it

(5,557 posts)Since this is a required program with penalties, businesses will have to be very careful with what information they collect, how they verify authenticity, how the data is kept, who has access, etc. Especially if they go the route of a testing program.
The employee getting the shot is the simple part.

(809 posts)Citizens of states that have low vaccination rates and no masking or distancing protocols are very grateful. Time is of the essence as no one is fully vaccinated for six weeks unless it is J & J. No unemployment for the vaccine resistant for quitting or being fired.

(16,725 posts)cases, which is not anyone's fault who's vaccinated and being careful. It's evolving to the consumer/patient. Sorry, but we have a major health care problem (#1 cause of bankruptcy in U.S.) and I am sick of insurance companies whose coverage gets worse every year. You are correct about vaccinations and why anti-vaxxers aren't is not just their problem; it's ours as well.

(47,423 posts)Giving up a paycheck to make a point is pretty extreme. Of course, these are the same people who will put their lives and their family's lives at risk for a QAnon principle, so who knows.
ProfessorGAC
(65,013 posts)...that type;
a) probably care about their family's wellbeing less than they claim, &
b) they would not consider that THEY would ever pay for risking their life.
But, no paycheck, when the check signer is saying "get the shot or get lost" is real, right now, and is about THEM.
There will be whining & moaning, & lawsuits, but the courts have already held employers can require medical safety measures of their employees.
A lay opinion, but I doubt lawsuits go anywhere.

(7,473 posts)I live in a small town and try to shop local. I wear a mask everywhere I go. It bothers me that the level of 100 does not help any of us who may come in contact with anyone who might work for a firm with less than 100 employees whose employees do not need to get vaccinated. They shop in my town, they live in my town but who knows where they have been or to what they have been exposed.
I see a lot of my townsfolk are good about wearing masks BUT: who or what may help those of us who try to follow proper protocol and the next idiot feels he is exempt because he works for a small company. Heck with the 100, the law should require everyone... and immediately.

(16,187 posts)My nurse manager told me today she is stunned how many employees are getting religious exemption from the now mandated vaccine. This will make it so they have to get tested to the point they give up and quit or just go against their death cult leaders and get the vaccine keeping us all a bit safer in the process.
