Abbott signed a bill stopping tech companies deplatforming people based on users' politics

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday signed a bill aimed at stopping social-media companies such as Facebook and Twitter from censoring users based on their politics.

The bill, called HB20, bans social-media companies with more than 50 million monthly active users from censoring people because of "the viewpoint of the user or another person."

The bill allows private citizens and the Texas attorney general to sue tech companies who they believe have unfairly kicked someone off a platform. Abbott is among some Republicans who claim Big Tech companies unfairly target conservatives with their moderation rules.

"There is a dangerous movement by some social media companies to silence conservative ideas and values," Abbott said in a video posted on Twitter.

They really do think they are special--special arrogant, lying, grifty a-holes is how special they are. Sit down and shut up, Abbott, your whining is pathetic.

There's a difference.

It just so happens that people on the Radical Right both LIE, and believe LIES, and love to spread LIES all over the internet ... with considerably more regularity than anyone else.

Most, if not all of the social media companies are based in California, so they don't have to answer to you. What are you going to do? Cut off your state from the Internet, the way you did the electrical grid?

and not the generally much smaller, more reactionary reich-wing outlets.

I can't imagine, for example, a place like FR surviving if they had to allow reasoned discussion or any debunking of the conspiracy crap they allow. Nope - just make one post that lads them to think that you might not be conservative enough for them and you're immediately deplatformed by RimJob or one of his admin toadies/minions and told to 'go back to DU' (ask me how I know!).
