Texas Man Killed Prominent Lawyer Because She Voted for Joe Biden: Police

A police affidavit has revealed the extreme motivations allegedly driving the assault and murder of a prominent El Paso lawyer couple.

Joseph Angel Alvarez, 38, was arrrested on Wednesday in connection with Georgette Garcia-Kaufmann's death and Daniel Kaufmann's assault. The State Bar of Texas lists the Kaufmanns as lawyers for the Texas Attorney General's Office.

Court documents suggest the suspect's political views and "extremist religious beliefs" may have played a role in his alleged shooting spree.

The affidavit states how an email written by the suspect outlines why he selected the house on Memorial Park.

Do you know a lot of people circling parks because they think Jewish Satanists hang out there casting spells?

The only political implication in this is that his psychosis latched onto right-wing ideology to manifest. It was going to manifest somewhere. Just so happens to be that.

It is not any kind of precursor to a Civil War.

The paranoia and anger at the heart of conservative Republican messaging is strongly suited to people who already have delusional and violent tendencies.

I mean, we can always point to that one guy who shot up the Republican Congress members playing baseball and say, "Crazy marginal people can be attached to any political ideology." And theoretically that's true.

Yet time after time, in the overwhelming number of cases it's right wing ideologies that attach to and motivate violent sociopaths.

There really is a need to diversify reading beyond social media bubbles and Twitter. We have plenty of our own lunatics. But who would post about them here? It would get hidden right away. So, places like this just get the steady diet of right-wing crazy.

I just watched a woman on Twitter say that finding a newborn infant in a shallow grave in the woods isn't the business of the police, because that would impugn on the sacrosanct nature of a woman's pregnancy choices. It was . . . interesting. And yes, she did work in a Texas context. Her name is Andrea Grimes on Twitter, if you're curious. Just so the inevitable alert knows I'm not making it up.

Who would post that here as an OP? No one. Is it getting thrown around all over the place on the Right? You betcha. And like us, they get a steady diet of our crazy. There's a Twitter feed - won't post it here - that highlights our crazies. I admit, I watch it (I watch everything from all sides). The people on it are nucking futs. Sometimes it's hilarious how crazy they are. Sometimes it's seriously yikes disturbing.

I know, as a gay man, I'm watching a really, really bizarre civil war going on in the LGBT community with some of the T's going to absolute town on the L's (with the G's just kind of in there somewhere).

Doesn't get posted here. Doesn't get mentioned. No one is even remotely interested in talking about it, because it would work against all kinds of narratives. I don't post about it, because I know it'd get hidden.

Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" is always relevant. If you're only seeing specific shapes cast by a certain slanted prism, you're going to think that's reality. It's not.

The guy in this OP is seriously mentally ill. People like that are everywhere. We have our own, too. It's pointless to try to rest political statements on it outside of purely partisan purposes.

Norway

Anders Behring Breivik (Norwegian pronunciation: [ˈɑ̂nːəʂ ˈbêːrɪŋ ˈbræ̂ɪviːk] (About this soundlisten);[5] born 13 February 1979, legally known since 2017 as Fjotolf Hansen,[6] and also known by his pseudonym Andrew Berwick) is a Norwegian domestic terrorist[7] who committed the 2011 Norway attacks. On 22 July 2011, he killed eight people by detonating a bomb—built into a cargo van—at Regjeringskvartalet in Oslo, then killed 69 participants of a Workers' Youth League (AUF) summer camp in a mass shooting on the island of Utøya.[8][9]

On 9 January 2013, three Kurdish activists were murdered in Paris. The presumed killer, arrested, died in the prison due to a cerebral tumor end of 2016. But the court case is not ended, because those who ordered the crime inside the Turkish intelligence services MIT are identified.

France

We met lawyer Antoine Comte, who says that the French political powers lack the courage in this case, and we met the anti-colonial writer Nils Andersson, who finds it suspicious that the judicial court cases in this kind of murders never lead to a verdict.

We publish here below the non-exhaustive list, composed by Nils Andersson, of non-clarified political crimes committed on the French soil.

Canada

The Socialist Equality Party (Canada) urges working people and all those committed to the defence of democratic rights to join with us in demanding that the Liberal government order the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to immediately and fully disclose to the public their investigations into last July’s attempted assassination of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau by an army reservist inspired by far-right views.

In the early morning of July 2, 2020, CAF reservist Corey Hurren crashed his truck, which was laden with high-powered firearms, through the gates of Rideau Hall, the site of Trudeau’s temporary residence. After Hurren was detained, following negotiations with the police that lasted well over an hour, the corporate media and political establishment went to work to downplay and cover up the incident. Now, more than six months later, a January 8 report by the CBC revealed that the RCMP has completed at least two internal investigations into the attempted assassination, both of which are being concealed from the public. Only selected parts of the RCMP’s findings were released in a summary, and only following an access to information request.

From the article:

As reported by KFOX14/CBS4, the affidavit states there were visible indications that the occupants supported President Joe Biden and flew a Biden "flag and [had] a doll of [Donald] Trump hanging."

"lvarez is also said to have believed the area where the victims lived in Memorial Park, Texas, was a hub for satanic activities. Court documents state the suspect considered Memorial Park as a "ritualistic satanic ground to conduct abortions by manner of magic."

According to the affidavit, Alvarez said he was "executing and exterminating the pro-choice Jewish Satan lusionsworshippers" when he allegedly decided to target the Kaufmanns' property for the shooting.

In the email sent on the night of the killing referring to the satanic rituals at the park, Alvarez also reportedly announced his intention to kill the people living in the houses near the park.

This isn't just a case of "I want to kill these people because they happen to disagree with me." These are psychotic delusions.

I am not making excuses for this man, and being that this is Texas, the chances of his getting off with an insanity are slim to none. I'm just saying this is about the ravings of a deranged mind. It's really not about politics or the beginnings of a civil war.

I work in a state hospital system reviewing arrest reports and clinical evaluations all day, and this rhetoric is ultra-common in incoming referrals.

There are people who spin it, people who believe it, and psychotic people who just wash around in whatever cultural rivers they swim in, no order or coherency required — weaving together phrases attached to the racing images they can’t control.

This guy sounds more like that, but it truly is a spectrum. It is axiomatic that if Donald Trump and Texas lawmakers do not horrify you there is something wrong with you. Conservatism is primitivist and rooted in all the worst impulses, always has been, always will be. It is a pirate’s ideology, a sociopath’s creed, a criminal’s code, a sexual predator’s cloak. This is the factual history of that movement.

I suspect I’ll read this same litany for some time to come in the cases I process. And I wish there were more penalties for the profiteers pushing this swill out for the sake of hoarding and power, Vladimir Putin included. The mentally ill and the fuzzy-minded fall down the rabbit holes these men make.

It’s bad for everyone to let it continue. Them included. For this guy, it provided a logical path to murder decent human beings and end his life in prison.

I don't have any professional credentials in psychology or mental heath, but I've had enough personal experience dealing with psychotic individuals (relatives) to recognize delusional thinking when I see it described this clearly.

It's really sad and scary what's happening in this country with unscrupulous media personalites actively encouraging the development of deranged belief systems.

by finding the unusual activity in the area.

His mind may be deranged, but he carefully planned the murder, and attempted murder, based on the politics of the victims:

The search warrant also found he emailed a US Army email, the 902D Military Intelligence group, stating his extremist religious beliefs where he identified "pro-choice" people as the "Jewish Satanist Paty" and makes several references to democrats as liars and explains abortions as "Jewish child sacrifice."
...
The affidavit states, in the email he wrote that he targeted the house on Memorial Park because they voted for Biden and had a Biden "flag and a doll of Trump hanging."

The document states, Alvarez's device further supported investigators that Alvarez conducted pre-planning methods by taking the photos.
...
The document states, the corner house on Copper Avenue displayed democratic political propaganda and LGTBQ flags.

Not your typical Republican who just got mad one day.

And it took the journalist six paragraphs to get to the part where the guy was clinically certifiable.

Why?

Because the political angle will get all the clicks and comments.

Mission accomplished there.
