General Discussion

Although it's not actually the industry in which I work, I am, because of my private interests in solutions to the environmental crisis in which we live, on the mailing lists of a number of news feeds related to energy engineering.
I got a great offer to attend the Distributed Energy Conference and also, at no extra cost, Experience Power and the HydrogeNext conferences.
It's a sale!

Ends tonight at 12 pm!
To be honest, I wasn't planning on attending, but I decided to respond with a note about this conference to be held, in San Antonio, Texas.
My response:
Although it is true that I did not actually plan to attend the conference in any case, it is doubly true now, since I will not attend any events in the State of Texas given the contempt shown by that State's government for human rights, specifically voting rights and women's rights. I fully intend to limit to a minimum any and all commercial activities involving that State, given my love for Democracy and human equality.

(15,669 posts)Had you not decided before Tuesday that you didnt want to attend, Id probably try to get you to go. I dont think blue cities should be punished. I understand the sentiment though about Texas as a whole.

(33,457 posts)...it's in Texas, an apartheid state with a white guy's talibanesque approach to women.
I wouldn't have been convinced to go, not that I was planning to go anyway. It's a personal, not a professional, interest. I'm glad there's no one to try to make me go.
In any case, I oppose distributed energy, am tired of all the continuous and useless hydrogen hype, and while I'm sure that I can learn what I need to know about power engineering elsewhere.
(My son recently informed me he's going to seek his Ph.D. in nuclear engineering and I follow my son's work closely.)
