..of adults have not been vaccinated...which means 75% have had a shot. Those numbers from a poll I saw on cable news today.
I get lost with some poll results and haven't been thinking about the adult segment percentage but the 75/25 split tells me 75% of the adults in the country are reasonably sane and only 25% are living on earth 2. And I want to infer that the split could possibly predict the split that will come up next election.
Surely the 75% think the GOP leadership anti-vaxx promoters are insane, as well as the anti-vaxx voters. Who, other than the 25%, would vote for a DeSantis type for president? FL is averaging 300+ deaths and 11K new cases per day...while DeSantis has continued to oppose all mitigation mandates. It boggles my mind that Florida residents haven't already run him out of the state.
The pundits aren't inferring the same as me, but I can dream...

(16,844 posts)The reason why Florida hasn't run DeSantis off is because they have too many dumbasses that are like the people around here. Politically, this area is a lot like the Florida panhandle.
I just don't understand these people. In some ways, I really love the people here, but when it comes to politics or any kind of intellectual pursuits, I feel like I have no relationship to them at all. It's like they take pride in ignorance, and they like to flaunt their ignorance, too.
How do you get through to people like this? You don't. You just do what you know is right and ignore what they say. Maybe after they experience enough death, they'll come around, although that's by no means certain.

(1,923 posts)Most of the conservatives I know, even the trump loving ones, got vaccinated. The still don't support mandates though. They feel the vaccine is fine but ultimately its should be entirely up to the individual to get it and they should not be coerced into it. Ironically, about half them are fine with my body my choice when it comes to vaccines, but are against that line of thinking when it comes to abortions.

(2,255 posts)The GOP politicians are certainly health conscious, get the shots but preach the freedom. But they make up a small percentage of either poll result. And maybe a significant number of the 75% still like DeSantis...certainly his poll numbers aren't at 25%.
