I heard only one time on 9/11, someone had given the all clear to return to work stations

in the south tower after they had started to evacuate, before the second plane hit. I never heard that again. It was reported, probably on CNN. I can't remember for sure what I was watching.

It's funny that has never been brought up if it was true. If it was true, whoever it was probably died anyway.

To move away from it as soon as possible. Everyone should have been streaming out of the exits opposite the North tower.

blood drive I was working when the fire alarm went off. I'm in a hallway by some cubicles and their shipping department. A couple seconds later, someone comes on the intercom and says, "sorry, just a birthday cake set off the alarm." No one gets up and leaves or anything and I'm thinking, WTF? A couple minutes go by and anther voice comes on and says, "if you aren't right in the middle of something critical, come to the main conference room NOW!" Then from one of the cubicles, this cool engineer dude, "rut-roh". LOL

I knew that was coming! The only reason I didn't get up and leave was those guys didn't. I knew if I was back at the blood center, that would have been mandatory. They got their asses chewed big time!

3. I used to have a book called 102 Minutes (I think that's the name).

They talk about that in the book. I believe it was the Port Authority who gave that all clear. Unfortunately I don’t have the book anymore or I could look it up.

4. A lot of misinformation was reported in the confusion of the day, especially on cable news

For example, I remember hearing a report that there was smoke coming from the Mall and it was suspected a plane has just crashed there (the smoke people reported seeing was actually coming from the Pentagon). It's possible that a reporter got it wrong and there never was such an all clear - and once this was confirmed, they never repeated it.

It was an impossibly chaotic day.

they were told it was under control in their tower. They kept working. Some left anyway, and just made it out of the building before it fell. That second building fell, after the hit, in a shorter period of time than the first tower.
