my co-workers and boss who set up the television. That day I learned things I did not know before - one co-worker's daughter lived in Manhattan; another's sister(?) was a flight attendant; she had switched flights with one of her co-workers, missing the plane out of Newark destined for a field in PA - but those people did not kill the messenger.

I thought I read he had a brain tumor (found during the autopsy). What I don't recall is the authorities finding a motive for the attack. (Although it has been many, many years since I have read about that tragedy.)

Clear cut examples of domestic terrorism have openly articulated motives - like the Ku Klux Klan or the Weather Underground.

I usually use the FBI definitions of terrorism as a guide.

Domestic terrorism: Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.

Since I don't see how the University of Texas tower shooter was furthering some ideological goal, I would call that a mass shooting. That isn't meant to minimize the fear and terror experienced by people that were there that day - just that I don't know if it was actually a terrorist attack according to the FBI definition (crime committed to further goals).

I could be wrong. He may have had some ideological motive, but I don't remember ever reading anything pointing to one. Sometimes people do crazy things for no reason, or at least no reason a normal person would understand. In a way, that's even more frightening.

Denial of white terrorism encourages and enables more of it.

Americans have always terrorized each other long before 9/11.

This asshole murdered 38 elementary schoolchildren and 6 adults because he didn't like a local tax increase. The antigovernment, anti-tax, and KKK terrorists with very political agendas are often excused by people pretending they can't have political agendas if they're white.

That they refuse to condemn those white folks because, regardless of what some of them say in public, they don't have a problem with the societal position as preached by those same white folks. Why shake up the status quo when that status quo puts you above others solely because of your skin color... something that requires no proof of ability or even a coherent reason as to why they should be seen as 'better'? What was it LBJ said, "Give the lowest white person someone to look down on and they will open their wallets for you."? It has worked for almost two centuries now. So much for 'progress'...
