Pearl Harbor Day was the reminder to hate the Japanese.
Is the 9/11 anniversary a reminder to hate muslims?
The victims who died on 9/11 were innocent bystanders.
What about the politicians and "defense" contractors who supplied the weapons to the dictators of the middle east for decades?

I don't recall any emphasis being put on hating the Japanese in the 1960s. Of course it's easy to be forgiving if you won the subsequent war.
One reason we keep wanting to revisit 9/11 is because we haven't come to terms with the fact that we lost that day and never got the satisfaction of a vindicating triumph.

It's about remembering the victims of a terrible attack. Friends, family, and people we didn't know, but were just as innocent as you and I.

(265 posts)The TV coverage this weekend included hours about Osama, al Qaeda, the Taliban, and the backlash against American Muslims in the aftermath of the attacks.
As to remembering the innocent victims, it would be more impressive if the first responders had not been denied benefits and medical coverage.
And by establishing these 3000 as deserving such high recognition, what does it say about all the other innocents for whom such honor is not forthcoming?
Like the hundreds of thousands killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.
