By a joint resolution approved December 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), Congress designated September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day," and by Public Law 111-13 (April 21, 2009), Congress has requested the observance of September 11 as an annually recognized "National Day of Service and Remembrance."

I too find it to be immensely offensive. I like to have a desk/wall calendar at work, and if the current calendar in use has that odious appellation for this day, I Sharpie it out with extreme prejudice.

As soon as I read your comment, it brought back that bad memory.

Apparently the place had to close down for some significant amount of time due to the outrage generated by the commercial.

It's my yearly rant, including e-mails to Town Administrators, Letters to the Editor, etc.
So disrespectful to those lost in war and to their families...NOT a day for a fireworks celebration.

Et tu, 9/11? For shame...

with rock bands, crafts, food and fireworks going on from Friday thru Sunday. I don't think the fireworks are part of the official beach fest but of course the idiots around here shoot them off for any reason they can find.

I think there should be a funeral march to mourn the loss of rights and freedoms that have occurred in the name of the perpetual war on terror, not to mention the expansion of the paranoid police state.

us over here so they won't have to fight them over there......or something like that.

The "Patriot Act" is still alive and well and voting rights are being stomped on along with demonstrating for our constitutionally provided for rights. Unless of course, you need unlimited firearms.

It's only taken 20 years to dumb muricans down to the intelligence level of concrete.
