The U.S. is still in pandemic mode with new COVID-19 infections some 16 times higher than whats needed to end the public health crisis, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in an interview with Axios published Thursday that the endgame is to suppress the virus. But 160,000 new cases of the coronavirus per day is not even modestly good control, he declared.
In a country of our size, you cant be hanging around and having 100,000 infections a day, Fauci explained. Youve got to get well below 10,000 before you start feeling comfortable.
Last month, Fauci said the spread of the highly transmissible delta variant responsible for a surge in infections, especially among unvaccinated people could be largely contained by the spring of 2022 if an overwhelming majority receive the shot.

(12,047 posts)Publix, better in my arm than in the trash, 6 months is where the Israeli data shows dropoff, good enough for me. I think the bureaucrats just picked that 8 months number for logistics of a whole country opening up, I have medical reasons not to wait for months and months more.
Same aftereffects, as first two, mild arm soreness, slight fever for a day. Done deal, feel great. Back to not worrying so much....my freedoms!

Your experience may vary by state and pharmacy provider

(16,035 posts)At that time, a bunch of us at work were told by employer they will wait for the 3rd dose for us so we are just going to go to a pharmacy to get it.

(12,047 posts)At least thats the theory, every size does not fit all, guidance is murky, at best, sometimes you just have to look out for yourself.

I hope they'll think it was worth it! Like putting salt on a wound! Or perhaps a better analogy would be like consuming lethal amounts of bath salts, for some of them.
After seeing "more of the same" from their defense last week against Minnesota, reminding me of the previous season, I didn't get too worked up by the loss. I figured they'd get embarrassed by a more balanced team like Alabama anyway, if they played again.
Oregon was 0-9 against Ohio State until yesterday, and I also thought about my now-deceased liberal mother never liking to see another team "get skunked" by the Buckeyes, as she called it. She's say they should let the other team score some points to make them feel better. Lol!
Edit: Then she'd clap if the opposing team scored some points near the end, when the Buckeyes were playing their third-stringers and such. She knew the outcome was decided anyway, and she indeed always wanted to see the Buckeyes win.
