General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI simply can't understand why the hacks at M$Greedia refuse
to state that based on Supreme Court rulings, there is nothing illegal about Biden's vaccine mandate. Rachel Maddow and Ari Melber laid it out clearly - WTF is wrong with the rest of them?
I just watched someone at M$NBComcast discussing DeathSentence's response - did you know he got a standing ovation from ReTHUGs (at a fundraiser) for claiming that Joe Biden's mandate is unconstitutional. How is that even relevant? Of course he didn't mention that 2,000+ people died from Covid in Florida last week. And she didn't mention that President Biden's mandate is legal.

(40,204 posts)Americans are poorly educated. Years ago, I read an article about how an overwhelming number of high school students in the U.S. where unable to identify the century in which The Civil War took place. There was a shocking list of other things they didn't know. Going to college often doesn't seem to help this problem.
Journalist, television journalist in particular, like the many other Americans, never learned how to think. They are bereft of critical thinking skills. And worse, they have a sense of power by the mere fact that they are attractive enough to be on television and give some kind of an opinion regardless if whether it makes any sense.

(7,263 posts)Just as Raygun and the rethugs in the 1980's desired, public education in this country has been gutted and instead we are leaving our kids future in the hands of unqualified home school educators, i.e. parents with NO formal training.
A lot of whom are conservative religious whack jobs.
Move along, nothing to see.
The right started filling positions on Boards of Education across the nation back in the 80s, At the same time, we were running as fast as we could from the word liberal, cuz a two-bit actor poked fun at the word.

So let's make education as expensive as possible to keep us in office.

(43,123 posts)That's why they are M$Greedia.
They view the Biden Presidency, much like the Clinton presidency, as feeding labor and human values too, rather than just corporations and capital like a Republican presidency. Democrats are just an interlude, occasionally allowed to occupy the White House before capitalism reigns supreme again. Wall Street feeds this beast.
Citizens have lost control of America because a plurality of citizens are hoodwinked or don't recognize this situation. We are enslaved to forces larger than us. The Bill of Rights was an afterthought for humans, and how they serve the legal system for propertied elites.

(1,910 posts)Got to constantly keep hammering this home. Its NOT personal freedom that only affects them. Covid variants arise from the unvaccinated, the variants can get more deadly and avoid the vaccines. So the anti-vaxxers are risking all of us, not just them. The anti-vaxxers are risking the entire economy, not just theirs.
We need to hit this over and over, from Biden on down, those who do not get the vaccine are hurting the majority who have gotten it.

(10,154 posts)But they are pumping out the propaganda to keep the GOPers stupid and in an attempt to convince you and I.
It's all about keeping the bare threads of capitalism from unraveling all the way.
What idiot knowingly volunteers to send their kids to get sick in schools?
No one, but feed them the lies with propaganda, thru religion, political identity, racism, news media and entertainment and you get them to walk their own children into a pandemic.
It also helps when you threaten them with lack of employment, never ending debt and deprivation, if they don't comply.

(2,578 posts)Most of the talking heads who have jobs with McGr$$dia get paid huge six-figure salaries. If they s a y anything that displeases the suits who hired them, they will be fired, and no one else in the industry will hire them. We have to use our critical thinking skills to challenge their lies. Our best opportunities to do that is with our friends and family. We can also do our best to support the bloggers and alternative news media who do take the risk of exposing the lies. And, we can boycott McGr$$dia and their sponsors. McGr$$dia has to sell ads to survive. They get more people reading or listening to their stuff by trying to create false controversies. Contact the sponsors and tell them why you are boycotting their companies. This kind of action can either put them out of business or maybe bring them to heel. Hang in there, friends. We can do this.
