Should we be concern that Joe Manchin is switching parties?

I am serious wondering after all his actions trying to prevent bills being passed.

Reports of Manchin being at Fundraisers for Donors that back GOP.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewsolender/2021/07/16/manchin-reportedly-headlining-texas-fundraiser-hosted-mostly-by-gop-donors/?sh=62dbc47b7a95

His plan in Lexington KY

https://politicalwire.com/2021/09/07/is-joe-manchin-meeting-with-mitch-mcconnell/

He already is saying he won't vote for 3.5 Billion infrastructure bill.

His actions on voting rights.

We have only 1 vote power control. We have a Republican party that is acting like a Russian Autocratic party-promoting Qanon conspiracy theories. Calling 1/6 those who have been arrested or being held in jail. Pollical prisoners. Kevin McCartney threatening business not to comply with the 1/6 committee.

just has me wondering.

His childhood buddy Nick Saban’s endorsement every election goes a long way too. Just an aside.

I've thought about that as well. I'm sure some of his most harshest critics would JUMP FOR JOY at the initial thought that Manchin was no longer a Democrat. They'd cheer and gloat and celebrate his departure... until they did the math. Until they realized that by losing ONE Democrat, that would put us with a TWO SEAT DEFICIT and Mitch McConnell would do the same thing to Joe that he did to Obama.

Kiss it all goodbye, Manchin-haters. That would certainly be a short-lived and Pyrrhic victory... put those dancing shoes back on the shelf. If they think it's tough now... just wait. Stand by. Driving Manchin away from the Democratic party and into the arms of the GOP would be a tragic and devastating loss.

All I'm trying to say is that his critics need to check-their-hate and think about the numbers. They need to count their blessings and be grateful for the things we CAN accomplish, rather than wasting time and focusing all their energy on being resentful.

Even if he waited until Democrats had a larger majority so that it didn't matter.

I doubt any other critics would be jumping either.

We just want him to get behind Biden and the rest of the Democratic party for a reason other than to stick knives in their backs when we try to accomplish something big that we want them to do.

With him taking the republicon side so often, there are severe limits on what Democrats can accomplish. Apparently, nothing can be meaningful or helpful to regular people, especially if it will cost billionaires and corporations a little money. Remember, their unpaid taxes alone would pay for almost half the $3.5 trillion plan.

The label 49 doesn’t have the same power as the label 50. Call it too normal or too bourgeoisie, it’s excepted truth.

The best that Joe Manchin could get was a commitment for TFG to endorse him and that would involve Manchin being able to trust TFG

Here is some history https://www.cop.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/briefing/Majority_Minority_Leaders.htm

27 From January 3 to January 20, 2001, with the Senate divided evenly between the two parties, the Democrats held the majority due to the deciding vote of outgoing Democratic Vice President Al Gore. Senator Thomas A. Daschle served as majority leader at that time. Beginning on January 20, 2001, Republican Vice President Richard Cheney held the deciding vote, giving the majority to the Republicans. Senator Trent Lott resumed his position as majority leader on that date. On May 24, 2001, Senator James Jeffords of Vermont announced his switch from Republican to Independent status, effective June 6, 2001. He announced that he would caucus with the Democrats, giving the party a one-seat advantage and changing control of the Senate back to the Democrats. Thomas A. Daschle again became majority leader on June 6, 2001. Trent Lott announced on December 20, 2002, that he would not continue as Republican leader in the 108th Congress. William Frist was elected Republican leader on December 23, 2002 and began service on January 7, 2003.

I really do not want MoscowMitch to be Senate Majority leader

Senator Manchin is doing exactly what he needs to do to survive as a Democrat in that state. West Virginia also has the lowest percentage of fully vaccinated residents of any state. A Republican is highly likely to be elected there in 2024. Manchin is the only Democrat who has enough name recognition to stand a chance.
