On Saturday, Donald Trump spoke at a conference organized by Hak Ja Han Moon, the widow of Reverend Sun Myung Moon, the founder of the controversial Unification Church.
Reverend Moon founded the church in South Korea in 1954 before moving to the United States in 1971, and it has been widely described as a cult.
Donald Trump was a featured keynote speaker at the "Rally of Hope" event, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

In his speech, Trump said, "I want to thank the Universal Peace Federation and in particular Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, a tremendous person, for her incredible work on behalf of peace all over the world."

They're both cults.

(182,788 posts)Moon paid for and organized pro-Nixon rallies and marches even during Watergate.
Falwell was bleeding money from Liberty U in the early years. The right wanted a white evangelical southern preacher for the new cable networks. Moon, himself, knew he wouldnt sell to middle America. Falwell needed to be presented as a successful businessman too. Jerry couldnt get enough widows to donate their engagement rings or people to sign over their house to right the ship. Moon made a loan with him at like 1%. The Thomas Toad line is that it went through a broker but no one believes that. Liberty is printing money now.
Moon wanted something for all the money hed contributed. Lee Atwater created the God Guns and Gays strategy/theme. It was Moon that wanted the anti-Gays family part....while he was fathering children all over the place.

(22,479 posts)As leader of Rod of Iron Ministries, Sean Moon promoted the Big Lie that the election was stolen from Trump, while issuing apocalyptic warnings to his followers to prepare for violent confrontation as President Joe Bidens inauguration approached.
They marched in paramilitary formation in D.C., with members outfitted in tactical vests, helmets and protective glasses. They networked with other pro-Trump groups such as Vets for Trump and Phyllis Schlaflys Eagles, along with Pennsylvania political figures like Frank Scavo.
On Jan. 6, a video shared on Instagram by Sean Moon shows him and at least a dozen Rod of Iron Ministries members reacting to chemical spray from law enforcement officers on the plaza outside the Capitol.
Moon later led members onto the scaffolding on the west side of the building. One Rod of Iron Ministries associate, Robert Pickell, pushed against a line of Capitol Police officers in riot gear outside the Columbus Doors as other rioters pelted the officers with projectiles and bashed out windows with flagpoles.
In video reviewed by Raw Story, Pickell can be seen charging into the police line to the left of the entrance, as the doors open and another person yells, Theyre in!
Pickell has not been charged, but Frank Scavo, who introduced Sean Moon at the Rod of Iron Freedom Festival in October 2020, faces a charge of violent entry and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, among other felonies offenses.
Its not even their country
Beginning in mid-October, teams of Japanese and South Korean believers chaperoned by Rod of Freedom Ministries member Ted OGrady crisscrossed Pennsylvania, from the state capital in Harrisburg to State College and back east to Honesdale. They held almost daily roadside rallies in support of Donald Trump.
