DeSantis milks out-of-state travel to lay possible 2024 foundation

Politico

The governor's trip to Nebraska is part of his ongoing split-screen effort.

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. — More than 1,000 miles from Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis was selling red meat rhetoric for a red meat audience.

At the Fifth Annual Nebraska Steak Fry on Sunday, DeSantis was in his element: serving up conservative haymakers in front of a crowd of 1,200 heartland Republicans just across the Nebraska River from first-in-the-nation Iowa, the traditional kickoff state for presidential elections.

DeSantis, though he’s up for reelection at home in 2022, gave a speech that made it clear he was running against President Joe Biden, barely mentioning his current campaign.

“My message from Florida is this: When Joe Biden violates the Constitution, when Joe Biden attacks the jobs of Floridians and Americans, when Joe Biden targets the livelihood of Florida families and American families, I am fighting back against him,” DeSantis said to cheers, criticizing the president’s executive order mandating mid-and large-employer Covid vaccines for workers.

or ironic...

or neither or both.

The fact is, the safest place he could be right about now is anywhere but his own state.

about protecting the lives of Floridians and visitors to his state.

But, it's already painfully obvious he doesn't give a crap about that.

Screw every damned republican on the planet.

I will say, though, the Daily Beast article on Hunting Atlantis was quite good, certainly a lot more interesting and informative than the show itself. I'm glad you posted it.

I've done the same with emailing links to family. It's embarrassing when you're supposed to be sending a link to kitchen hardware info or the like, and instead send an Amazon link to a silly book you had no intentions of actually buying. Oops. 😳 Oh, the teasing to be lived down afterward.

“DeSantis has built his brand in a really unique way,” Kochel said.

DeSantis is living in a sociopathic dream world. His brand is being built on the backs of ill and dying children. The chances for a presidential nom are low, thank goodness. It's nauseating to see Politico plumping for him this way.

I sometimes have several tabs loaded to read and then wander off to do the dishes or something before getting to them. I'm glad I did this time. That was a surprisingly in-depth and informative article about pseudoarchaeology.

I did see the Atlantis article and read a bit. I've seen the show and agree with the article. It is more than a bit phony.
