A monstrous subway commuter kicked a woman down a Brooklyn escalator after she called him out for shoving past her, chilling video shows.

The 32-year-old victim was riding up an escalator at the Atlantic Ave-Barclays Center station about 7:15 p.m. Thursday when the attacker, who wore a backpack and a mask, jostled past her, cops said.

She quipped to the man, “Say, excuse me,” and he responded, “I did” — and kicked her square in the chest, cops said.

The woman tumbled backwards to the bottom of the escalator, while the man turned around, walked up the moving steps and left the station.

Around 15 years ago my family was waiting patiently for an elevator with a group of people large enough that it was clear there were going to be several cycles before the crowd cleared. As, it was our turn to enter the elevator a loud boorish lumpy woman shoved her way through the group (TFG in a dress? We'll never know.) and pushed my SO and little dimpled darling to the ground with enough force an impartial observer could conclude it was assault. I missed grabbing the woman's hair by about a foot. Not sure what would have occurred, if I had. So, it was probably better that I didn't.

As I was helping my SO and child up and to recompose themselves, I remember someone in the remaining group sarcastically say as they straightened their clothing, "Wow, they must be handing out free money somewhere upstairs."

But there does seem to be an epidemic of rude and brutish behavior. It is far worse and more prevalent than I've ever seen in my lifetime. Civility apparently is no longer in fashion, especially since Trump moved into the White House.

And she conveniently got out of the way and did not try to break her fall. Watch her actions closely. She also so casually turns around to watch the poor woman tumble down the escalator and seemed completely unfazed by all of it.

for encountering the unexpected, mind not on traffic in front of her in particular, in the instant not thinking she could do anything about it, so decided it was not her problem to deal with. Reversing direction on a moving escalator requires some fancy footwork!

It was taken at the station's entrance/exit point.

In some ways, this person looks female to me, but who knows. I assume that the victim described him to the police as a male.

Great follow-up by our District 11 NCOs days after an assault in a Bronx subway station. Our officers & Transit detectives returned to the scene of the crime to look for the suspect. Sure enough, he was riding on a passing train and was promptly arrested.

And the other woman's deft dodge and nonchalantly continuing up the escalator was classic NYC.

More seriously, I hope they catch the guy and he does serious jail time. She could have died from such an assault.

When I'm in NYC, I try not to make eye contact or talk to anyone, especially while on the subway or in the stations. I'm glad the woman's injuries were minor. Some of the escalators in stations are so tall that someone would be killed if they tumbled down them.

There are a lot of crazy people in NYC. Don't try to shame anyone for their poor manners or you might get killed.

What also bothers me is that she declined medical attention, which is something I hear about far too much in this country. People declining medical attention for attacks or accidents which could prevent infections or medical problems later on down the road.

Our healthcare system sucks! People should not have to be financially penalized for seeking medical care for injuries from accidents and violent assaults from unhinged people. This country is so messed up.
